During a routine patrol for seals caught in fishing gear, an adult female was discovered with commercial line wrapped tightly around her neck. This entanglement had already inflicted significant harm and posed a fatal risk if not addressed promptly. Utilizing a specialized seal-catching net, we successfully captured her and removed the hazardous line. In 2019, my team has rescued over 300 Cape fur seals. Assistance came from colleagues at the Namibian Dolphin Project.
