During a routine patrol for entangled seals, we discovered an adult female sea lion with commercial fishing line constricting her neck. The line had already inflicted significant harm and posed a serious threat to her life if not addressed promptly. Using a specialized seal-catching net, we successfully captured her and removed the dangerous entanglement. Since 2019, my team has rescued over 300 Cape fur seals, with invaluable assistance from Dorothy Fourie and Thilde Martin of the Namibian Dolphin Project.
