A heroic man ran into his neighbor's yard during a flash flood to rescue four baby bunnies whose burrow had filled with water. Revekah "Beck" Dzemali, 29, from Sandwich, Illinois, received a call from her neighbor and friend saying she was concerned about the bunnies living in a burrow at the end of her yard, given that there was an incoming storm and flood warning. The area floods every easily, Beck said, and she assured her neighbor that if the area did look like it was starting to flood, her husband, Armend, would go and search for the rabbits, on July 4. But just 20 minutes later, Beck received a call to say it was too late; the area had flooded so quickly and so much water had fallen that her neighbor was convinced the bunnies had all drowned. Armend asked if the neighbor was 100 percent sure, and when Beck couldn’t give a definitive answer, the 29-year-old decided he would head out in the storm just in case. As rain poured down, Armend, carrying a box, began to dig through the flood waters, before he saw two bunnies floating on their side on the surface. He put them inside the box before coming across two more, tying his shirt around his neck, so that it was draped over the container that couldn't fill with more rain. Armend transferred the bunnies into a dry box and kept them warm until they could return to their home after the flooding had passed. The couple rebuilt the bunnies' burrow from dry grass and fur, and having put the four babies in the burrow, the couple later checked on them and discovered they had full bellies, as their mom had returned.

00:00I just had no clue what I was looking for. I just was going for it. I had to be
00:04quick.
00:05There was no time to think about it.
00:08My friend called me and we knew that we had a storm coming in and there was a flood warning.
00:15She was a little bit concerned because she knew that there was a bunny burrow in her yard.
00:19Not even 10, 15 minutes had passed by. The storm had started and it was already flooding.
00:25They're already like, it's just too late for them. There's too much water in that area.
00:31The water was already really high and all I could think was I got to get my things ready to
00:36go grab them.
00:37I still felt like there may be a chance.
00:39I wasn't thinking about anything. I wasn't scared. I wasn't anything but focused on where are these bunnies?
00:57They were so cold and they were like just floating in the water. I just grabbed them and ran back
01:03to the house.
01:04I used some of our clothes to dry them, kind of clean them a little bit and then put them
01:10in a new bucket.
01:11Then we put some heating packs underneath.
01:13I was running a new dryer load just so we would have fresh, warm clothes.
01:18Once they got warm enough, I could see that they were moving around more.
01:23They started like gravitating towards each other to cuddle. It was really cute.
01:28We rebuilt a nest because theirs was completely covered in water. It was just soaking.
01:33So we built a new one with dry grass and some fur that I combed off of our long-haired
01:41cat.
01:41They were eating good. They were happy.
01:45They look plump.
01:47Yeah, look. You look kind of plump, right?
01:50They're big, full bellies.
01:52If everyone in the world just helped without expecting something and just did it because it was the right thing
01:58to do,
01:59I think the world would be a really nice place to live in.
02:02Be kind to animals. Be kind to people. Be kind to strangers, friends, everybody.
