00:01The foreign ministry has confirmed that 55 Malaysian nationals remain uncontactable following the devastating floods in Nepal.
00:08In a statement, Wismaputra said it is closely monitoring the situation after the Bote Koshi River overflowed in Nepal's Rasuwa
00:16district on August 26, triggering catastrophic flooding.
00:20The ministry says severe damage to roads, bridges, highways and communication networks, along with power disruptions, is likely contributing to
00:28the difficulty in reaching them.
00:30Search and rescue operations are ongoing, though access to affected areas remains limited.
00:35The embassy is in close contact with Nepalese authorities, search and rescue teams, the Nepal Tourism Board, travel agencies and
00:43major hospitals in Kathmandu to establish the safety and whereabouts of Malaysians involved.
00:48The ministry says it has not received any official confirmation of Malaysian casualties at this stage.
00:53To strengthen its response, the ministry has deployed an officer from another Malaysian mission in the region to assist the
01:00Kathmandu embassy and has activated its operations room in Putrajaya, effective from 12pm today.
01:06Family members may also email the Embassy of Malaysia in Kathmandu, CCing the ministry's operations room, with the person's full
01:14name, passport number, travel itinerary, last known location and contact number.
01:20Malaysians in or travelling through Nepal are urged to remain vigilant, follow local authorities' instructions and register their details via
