00:00Plenty on the line, a place in the quarter-finals and we're underway.
00:05River Plate against Independiente Santa Fe.
00:07For a place in the Commonwealth, sort of in the Cana quarter-finals.
00:12I'm going to be bringing this one from the Monumental.
00:23Gilbert River have constructed a move well down the right this time.
00:26Cross comes in, flicked away, falls in the back post.
00:28Busy's there.
00:29And probably he's over the top of the crossbar.
00:35A very nicely constructed move by River, sweeping down that right-hand side.
00:41Angel Correa had a bit more space than I think he realised here with that first-time layoff.
00:46Could have in fact taken it on himself into the area.
00:52Busy couldn't wait any longer for that to drop, had to take it early.
00:56But in the end, puts the ball over the top of the crossbar.
00:59Promising from River.
01:06Monty Elk down the line for the Riusidrius into the box.
01:09And hits one into the side net of Correa in fact it was making the run.
01:15Knifles that one with some venom.
01:22Inside as he makes that forward run.
01:24Only one inside the area almost had to take the shot on.
01:31And again, there's a cross in, there's no one there.
01:35End in the hands of Asprea.
01:37To get turned there.
01:39Inside onto his right.
01:41Opens up space here into the left.
01:42Good chance for River.
01:43Into the six-yard box.
01:44It's loose.
01:45Can't turn it home.
01:46Blocked.
01:47And the ball eventually away to safety.
01:57Brilliant play by Thiago Almada.
01:59Leaves two on their behinds as he plays it wide for Acuna.
02:03And this could have ended up anywhere.
02:05Just enough red shirts back inside that six-yard box.
02:09Throwing themselves in front of the ball to prevent River opening the scoring.
02:18It is indeed.
02:20The whistle blows.
02:21Chacho Grudet.
02:22Straight off down the bend.
02:24Down the tunnel.
02:2745 minutes remain.
02:29Half-time here.
02:30River Plate nil.
02:32Independiente Santa Fe nil.
02:34Nil-nil in the tie.
02:36Back underway.
02:38River nil.
02:39Santa Fe nil.
02:43Quarter-final tie against Vasco da Gama.
02:46Awaits the winner of this one.
02:51Once more.
02:52One back by Moreno.
02:53Pass onto the edge of the box.
02:54Now there's a firm challenge that a UC.
02:57Tries to force a shot through the crowd.
02:59And it does force a corner.
03:05Almada.
03:07Accelerates towards the box.
03:08Great turn on the edge by Correa.
03:10Shoots.
03:11Once again close to the goalkeeper.
03:13That's Almada.
03:15Once again coming off that left wing.
03:17And again playing those little passes infield.
03:19Here's Correa.
03:21Lot of space now for Montiel.
03:22Whips the ball across the six-yard box.
03:24And River lead.
03:26Turned in by Sebastian Driuzzi.
03:28Back in the line-up.
03:30And scorer of a massive goal for the Missionarios.
03:37Finally River have their breakthrough.
03:50Correa finds the space.
03:53For Montiel.
03:54And it's a beautiful ball across the six-yard box.
03:57Gets his head up.
03:58He's got enough time and space to take a touch.
04:02Set him.
04:03All they're in.
04:04Floats into the edge of the box.
04:05A volley comes in.
04:07Beautifully struck by Acuna.
04:08Correa.
04:09And tipped over the crossbar.
04:12It's River though.
04:13The teams are coming forward.
04:15Looking to kill this tie off.
04:16Montiel's involved again.
04:17Correa.
04:19Shoots again from outside the area.
04:21Out swinging corner that follows.
04:23Towards the cluster of players at the back post.
04:26Tipped over the top by Asprilla.
04:28Long throw from the visitors.
04:29Flicked on towards Fegundes.
04:31Drops outside the area.
04:33The shot that comes in.
04:34Looping.
04:34And that's a spectacular save from Beltran.
04:37It was not the cleanest of strikes.
04:40But it was dropping underneath the crossbar.
04:43And it's a stunning stop.
04:46By Santiago Beltran.
04:54Let's take a look at this effort from outside the box.
05:01Beltran.
05:03Then seems to be already hobbling a little as he goes after that loose ball.
05:12Brilliant save from the youngster.
05:13To see there.
05:14He already kind of almost take Rivera with the corner.
05:19Flicked into the six yard box.
05:21Appeals for a hand ball.
05:22A penalty.
05:24Penalty awarded to River.
05:25To Santa Fe.
05:29River players swarm around Estevano Stockic.
05:32The match.
05:36Moments after Beltran saves them.
05:41Let's take a look at this one again as it's hooked towards goal.
05:45Clear arm of Martinez Cuarta away from the body as it's hooked goalwards.
05:52There will be no coming back from that.
05:56Regardless.
05:56Now get the chance to be a hero once again for River with just 10 minutes remaining.
06:02Fagundes stands over this one for Santa Fe.
06:06And fires it into the back of the net for the equalizer.
06:11Beltran getting something on it but the ball struck firmly enough by Fagundes to bring Santa Fe level at the
06:21Monumental against the run of play.
06:34Fagundes.
06:36Went with power and even though Beltran got two hands on it he could not turn it round the post.
06:47Building to a crescendo now for River Plate supporters.
06:52Mesa.
06:53The full time whistle blows.
06:55There will not be another chance.
06:57It will be penalties here at the Monumental.
07:00It finishes.
07:02River Plate won.
07:04Independiente Santa Fe won.
07:06With the responsibility.
07:07And firing into the back of the net.
07:09River off the mark.
07:12Can he stop this one?
07:14And again he goes the right way but he's about to make it 2-1.
07:17Keeper stands his ground.
07:19Correa is at the back level for the second time in the shootout.
07:21Torres sends Beltran the wrong way.
07:242-2.
07:25In the shootout for River.
07:28And he rolls it into the bottom corner.
07:32And he can.
07:34Beltran with the save.
07:36Antic for River.
07:38Freitas into the back of the net.
07:40And River lead 4-2 in the shootout.
07:45Decided it.
07:46Palacios scores.
07:47And does indeed.
07:50Prolong the shootout.
07:52To seal it.
07:55And he's at the post.
07:57The chance to win it.
07:59Not taken by Rafael Santos Borre.
08:02It's again here.
08:04He can.
08:05Sends the keeper the wrong way.
08:07It's quite up.
08:08Over the crossbar.
08:09He's missed.
08:11Torres up against Beltran.
08:13Save.
08:14Beltran.
08:15Beltran.
08:15The hero once again.
08:18Keeps River alive.
08:20Berra.
08:21Scores.
08:23To try and keep his side in the sudamericana.
08:26And he does just about sneak that one past Beltran.
08:31Beltran sucks.
08:32Next up for River.
08:33Save by Asprea.
08:35The legs of the goalkeeper.
08:37For the first.
08:38Angulo up against Beltran.
08:40Beltran again.
08:41With the save.
08:44Once again.
08:46Beltran.
08:47Acuna.
08:47Acuna.
08:48Scores for River.
08:536-5.
08:55Just to keep the shootout going.
08:56Heli Beltran Palacios up against Beltran.
08:59And he scores.
09:02Calmly taken.
09:04Mesa.
09:05Scores.
09:07Keeper again.
09:09Coming from his line.
09:10Those little stuttering steps.
09:13Before the taking of the penalty.
09:14But Mesa keeps his cool.
09:15Now.
09:16Once again.
09:17And he does that.
09:19Slides it past Beltran.
09:22Goalkeeper against goalkeeper Beltran.
09:25Balloons it over the top of the crossbar.
09:31Asprea.
09:31He might be something of an expert in saving penalties.
09:35He's certainly not an expert in taking them.
09:39Losing his footing by the look of things as he takes it.
09:41And skying it.
09:43Way over the top of the cross.
09:45Asprilla, Asprilla scores!
09:53And with it, Independiente Santa Fe knockout River Plate.
10:01Incredible shootout, incredible scenes.
10:08River Plate's nightmare has just got a lot worse.
10:15It's Independiente Santa Fe into the Sudamericana quarter-finals to play Vasco de Gama.
10:22And it's the big spending missionarios of River Plate.
11:05So, the team is in the Dius of the West.
