Floods hit hospital, business district in northern India
Northern India was hit by heavy rain Tuesday (August 25), flooding a Varanasi hospital and shutting down parts of Gurugram’s IT district. At Sir Sundar Lal Hospital, patients were carried on stretchers through knee-deep water after surrounding roads were submerged. Roads in Gurugram ground to a halt as underpasses and major roads flooded. Several businesses moved staff to remote work and schools were closed for the day, according to local media. Light to moderate rainfall is expected in New Delhi and its suburbs in the coming days, as per a statement issued by the weather office.
