00:00And talking about Gen Z, well, let's not leave Gen Alpha behind as well, because look what's happening in Uttar
00:06Pradesh.
00:07In Uttar Pradesh, now there is a push in major school infrastructure and a push for makeover as well.
00:15With the Yogi Adityanath government now putting 604 crores behind a plan to repair, rebuild and upgrade thousands of council
00:22-run schools.
00:23The scale of the exercise is significant. They are covering almost 3,126 primary and upper primary schools, which have
00:32been identified for reconstruction and repair.
00:35The government has already released the first installment of over 302 crore rupees, with work set to begin according to
00:42prescribed construction standards as well.
00:44But this is not just about repairing walls and roofs, remember.
00:47The stated aim is to improve the overall learning environment and ensure children are not forced to study in dilapidated
00:54or poorly maintaining buildings.
00:56That's what the government is saying.
00:57The biggest share of the allocation is going towards about, you know, 2,243 council-run primary schools.
01:05Again, the cost involved here is 344 crores, which has been earmarked for their repair and reconstruction,
01:12working out roughly to be about 15 lakh per school, which the government has cleared.
01:19The first installment for these primary schools stands at about 172 crores as well.
01:24And, you know, that continues.
01:26The government says the work will be monitored through district and state-level committees,
01:31with the focus on prescribed standard and improved student facilities as well.
01:35The larger message from the government seems to be clear that no child should have, you know, should have to
01:41learn inside a crumbling classroom,
01:43simply because they attend a council-run school.
01:47But the timing of this is to be looked at carefully.
01:51This comes when the CJP has already started their school thikaro campaign.
01:56Lots of videos are emerging from across the country of young kids, young boys and girls,
02:01now exposing the, you know, infrastructure in which they study, exposing the roads that take them to school,
02:07exposing the condition of the buses that they have to take as well,
02:10and sometimes not just the food that they get, but even the condition of the classroom.
02:16All of this now pressing the Yogi Adityanath government to take stock of the situation,
02:22and now becoming the first government to actually take action, allocate the money, and get going as well.
