00:00These are going to have to be paid for at some point, and the bill's coming, isn't it, to the
00:02British public?
00:03No, those things are paid for. Those are funded commitments, so that is clearly laid out.
00:09Digital ID was uncosted. Defence funding, there's a hole in the budget that needs to be filled.
00:13Are you going to have to fill that with taxes, and the public need to accept that?
00:16I will always take, actually, a careful approach to things.
00:20I ran Greater Manchester for ten years, and we ran a very tight ship with rock-solid finances,
00:26and nothing will change as I come into this role as Prime Minister.
00:29I won't take risks with people's jobs, or their livelihoods, or their family finances.
00:35I will try to help them in whatever way I can, and I have already done some things that will
00:40help them going forward.
00:42I've done some things to help businesses, for instance, business rates cut for pubs.
00:47So I will do what I can, but I won't be unrealistic, and people really need to understand that.
00:51We're in a challenging position. Whatever I do will be carefully thought through.
00:55It will be funded, but that's exactly what I've done so far.
00:58But there will be more to come as we go into the autumn.
