00:05In a new interview with Variety, Shaq revealed that he had approached Marvel about appearing in an Avengers movie.
00:12But according to O'Neal, executives told him there was one big problem.
00:17He's simply too recognizable.
00:19Shaq said they loved him, but feared that the moment his face appeared on screen,
00:24audiences would immediately think, hey, that's Shaq, instead of seeing the character he was playing.
00:30He said the same issue has made it difficult for him to land more serious action roles.
00:36This wasn't a brand new dream either.
00:38Back in 2018, Shaq publicly said he wanted to join an Avengers movie,
00:43and even joked about fighting Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man.
00:47Shaq already has superhero experience, having played Steel in the 1997 DC movie.
00:54But now, his Marvel dream remains unrealized.
00:58Instead, Shaq says he'd love to make a movie with Dwayne the Rock Johnson,
01:02where he wants to beat him up on screen.
