00:00There's nothing to worry about, big fella.
00:05Here I come!
00:08Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're looking at the stoner comedies that leave viewers high on the laughs.
00:13We're including movies where consumption might not be the main theme, but still carry the genre's baked vibes.
00:18When I get home, I'm gonna frame a bunch of stuff I love.
00:22Like lasagna.
00:25Number 30. Bad Trip
00:27Sometimes the best stoner movies aren't actually about getting high, they just capture the right vibe.
00:31Bad Trip blends hidden camera pranks with a road trip comedy.
00:34It follows Eric Andre and Lil Rel Howery as they drag unsuspecting strangers into one hilariously absurd situation after another.
00:41We're going to Electric Cowboy tonight.
00:43Oh, really? Oh, thanks, man.
00:44If you wanna turn it around, I'll hold it for you.
00:46Oh, really?
00:48The real magic comes from watching unsuspecting bystanders react to increasingly outrageous antics,
00:53making every encounter feel completely unpredictable.
00:57All right, wait a minute. Go get some butter.
00:59Let him out this thing.
01:04While it isn't a traditional stoner comedy, it's carefree energy and anything-goes attitude make it a perfect companion for
01:09a laid-back movie night.
01:10Throw in Andre's fearless commitment to escalating every gag,
01:13and you've got a wonderfully kooky experience that's almost impossible not to laugh a long way.
01:17Oh, my God!
01:19You got my ledge!
01:20Oh, my God!
01:22Oh, my God!
01:23Sorry! Sorry, you didn't get up either!
01:24Oh, my God!
01:26Oh, my God!
01:26Number 29, American Ultra.
01:28Okay, so this car is always going, and that tree is always just, like, stopping.
01:35You know, like, it's just been stopping there for years until tonight, when it meant something that it didn't want
01:40to keep going.
01:41Stoner comedies are often about ordinary people thrown into outrageous circumstances.
01:45A great example of this is American Ultra, an underrated action comedy starring Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart.
01:52I remember every single thing that happened to me in the last 94 minutes.
01:5594 minutes? How did I even get that number, Phoebe? I remember literally every single thing that I can picture
01:59at all.
01:59Eisenberg plays a convenience store clerk who finds out he's actually an unwilling participant in a CIA operation,
02:05but he has his girlfriend, played by Stewart, and some special skills on his side.
02:09The film is full of hilarious comedy, impressive set pieces, and great performances from Eisenberg, Stewart, and Topher Grace as
02:15the bad guy.
02:16Whoa, that's unprofessional.
02:19American Ultra is like The Bourne Identity if Jason Bourne got the munchies.
02:24Number 28, The Wrong Girls.
02:26The absurdist stoner genre is alive and well, and it's shacked up in an L.A. apartment with the aimless
02:30Molly and Frankie,
02:31played by Alia Shawkat and Kristen Stewart.
02:33We're two weeks late on rent, we have less than an ounce of weed, well what are we gonna do?
02:39This funky and hilarious film pays homage to classic stoner cinema through use of beloved tropes.
02:44We've got a dynamic duo, an overdue rent pill, a befuddling high-stakes conspiracy, and a hazy, trippy aesthetic.
02:50I have no idea why you thought it would be a good idea to take the drugs.
02:53You are dumb as rocks, and you should be dead.
02:57But The Wrong Girls isn't rehashing old joints.
02:59It reignites the genre with a female-led cast in a post-legalization world.
03:03Its absurdity is less gross-out and slapstick than its predecessors, relying instead on magical realism to heighten the plot.
03:10The girls might be wrong, but this film is just right.
03:13I just did that!
03:15Oh my god, I'm a witch!
03:16You should think, I wish Oasis would get back together!
03:18Oasis is back together, dude!
03:20How did these girls happen to me?
03:22Number 27, The Beach Bum.
03:24If there were an award for the world's most laid-back protagonist, Moondog would win it without breaking a sweat.
03:29Matthew McConaughey fully embraces the blissfully carefree poet drifting from one outrageous misadventure to the next,
03:34with little concern for responsibility or sobriety.
03:37Good for you.
03:38Let's go driving!
03:39You wanna go driving?
03:40Let's go!
03:41We could have my beer.
03:42Director Harmony Corrine fills every frame with colorful characters, hazy visuals,
03:47and a free-spirited vibe that captures the film's stoner sensibilities.
03:51Rather than rushing toward a destination, The Beach Bum invites you to kick back and enjoy the
03:55strange eccentric journey, one encounter at a time.
03:58Okay, what all stops now? The foolishness. I understand, I need a change of pace, yeah, yeah, yeah.
04:05Although the film didn't make a big splash at the box office, it's since been rediscovered as
04:09must-see stoner entertainment.
04:10In spite of myself, the insidious mastery of song has betrayed me back once again
04:20through the heart of me, where I weep to belong.
04:25Number 26, Tenacious D and The Pick of Destiny.
04:28It may be wrapped in a fantasy rock opera,
04:31but Tenacious D has all the hallmarks of a classic stoner comedy.
04:34No fear!
04:35I'll give you a power slot.
04:41How'd that feel?
04:42Really good.
04:43Jack Black and Kyle Gass embark on an increasingly ridiculous quest to recover a mythical guitar pick,
04:49stumbling into a bizarre adventure that gets more out there as the runtime continues.
04:53It isn't long before you're wondering if all of this is supposed to be a fever dream.
04:59Juicy.
05:02The loose episodic structure and constant stream of over-the-top gags reflects just the kind of spirit
05:07that defines the genre. Add in plenty of rock and roll memorable cameos and a soundtrack packed with
05:12original songs, and you've got a film that channels stoner comedy energy without ever needing to follow the
05:17traditional formula.
05:28Number 25, They Clone Tyrone.
05:30Conspiracy thrillers don't usually overlap with stoner comedies, but They Clone Tyrone somehow might have found the sweet spot,
05:36based on how you see it. As an unlikely trio uncovers an increasingly outlandish government conspiracy,
05:41every answer leads to an even stranger question. The film evokes the stoner genre's trademark laid-back
05:51banter and go-with-the-flow attitude, with John Boyega, Jamie Foxx, and Tiana Paris playing off one another.
05:57We've got a gun.
05:58Because I don't know what's on the side of these damn doors.
06:01Instead of banking on pop-fueled hijinks, it channels the offbeat hallucinatory energy that can be found in many stoner
06:06classics.
06:07And with a healthy dose of psychedelic visuals and eccentric characters, you've got a comedy that's every bit as trippy
06:12as its premise.
06:16You ain't gonna like it.
06:18Think these movies are the perfect way to chill out? Scan the QR code on your screen to join WatchMojo's

06:25For even more comedy rankings, movie debates, and non-stop entertainment.
06:29Run, bitch! Run!
06:32Number 24, Fast Times at Ridgemont High.
06:34While it's meant to be an ensemble piece, the character primarily driving the Fast Times vehicle is Jeff Spicoli.
06:39You're causing a major disturbance on my time.
06:43I've been thinking about this, Mr. Hand.
06:46If I'm here and you're here, doesn't that make it our time?
06:50Sean Penn's perpetually chill surfer is a constant source of laughs.
06:54Drifting through high school with careless abandon.
06:56Spicoli's outlook has since become the blueprints for countless laid-back characters.
07:00His unforgettable antics ensure the film never strays too far from its comedic roots.
07:04Well, I'll tell you still, I did battle some humongous waves.
07:07But you know, just like I told the guy on ABC, danger is my business.
07:12Between his quotable one-liners, hilarious classroom run-ins, and blissfully unconcerned approach to life,
07:17it's easy to see why he became the film's breakout character.
07:20And for many fans, Fast Times as a whole embodies the kind of totally awesome humor
07:24that the genre has ultimately been associated with.
07:27Awesome!
07:29Totally awesome!
07:32All right, Hamilton!
07:33Number 23.
07:34Reefer Madness The Movie Musical
07:36What happens when decades of anti-marijuana propaganda collide with a Broadway musical?
07:40Well, you're looking at it.
07:42Mary Jane, oh Mary Jane, flush my future down the drain.
07:49Reefer Madness gleefully spoofs the infamous 1936 exploitation film, exaggerating every
07:54fear-mongering claim into an off-the-rails comedy.
07:57The film satirizes the hysteria surrounding the idea of using, as every exaggerated warning
08:02is turned into a punchline.
08:11Kristen Bell, Alan Cumming, Neve Campbell, and Christian Campbell are all in full force
08:16with the film's campy tone, and even its most ludicrous moments are impossible to resist.
08:20Its cast may have gone on to do bigger and perhaps better work, but fans of the genre
08:24will always have Reefer Madness to remember them by.
08:27Remember me, Ralph, I'm about to fry
08:29Shut up!
08:30When your friends stand idly by, my life is now a ticking bomb
08:34Shut up!
08:35Gonna miss my senior prom
08:37Shut up, shut up!
08:38Number 22.
08:39Inherent Vice
08:39This neo-noir mystery filters its twisting mystery through the hazy point of view of private
08:45investigator Doc Sportello.
08:46And your name was?
08:49Mrs. Crocker Fenway.
08:52Japonica's dad?
08:54Um, what happened this time?
08:58The protagonist's hazy mindset turns every clue into an even bigger puzzle.
09:02The disheveled detective navigates a variety of wacky characters, bizarre encounters, and
09:06deadpan exchanges that grow funnier the stranger things become.
09:10All right, man, you can't go back to them?
09:13Oh, cause what?
09:15Why?
09:16Because it would be my ass and my family's too.
09:19Its almost dreamlike atmosphere is perfect for the kind of shaggy, freewheeling adventure
09:23that director Paul Thomas Anderson is going for.
09:25While you likely won't find many belly laughs on the surface,
09:28it does hit hard once the delayed reaction finally kicks in.
09:31Is it Chinese?
09:33Oh, I figured, uh, you being Chinese.
09:39What?
09:40Number 21.
09:40Smiley Face.
09:42Coming back to pure stoner comedies,
09:43Smiley Face is the type of movie that shows just how bad a high can get.
09:48How the hell did I get here?
10:04Anna Faris' day spirals completely out of control after accidentally eating an entire plate of
10:08questionable cupcakes.
10:10The rest of the movie follows a nonstop series of increasingly ridiculous misunderstandings,
10:14failed errands, and paranoid pratfalls.
10:16The film industry has largely moved away from irreverent and frankly pointless humor like this.
10:21I think, I think you need an appointment.
10:23Oh yeah, an appointment.
10:33But Smiley Face is a reminder that some films aren't supposed to have a point,
10:36they're just supposed to make you laugh.
10:38And with surprisingly solid reviews for the genre,
10:40it goes to show that a little heart can go a long way, even for a stoner comedy.
10:44That was a close one.
10:47Number 20.
10:48Billy Madison.
10:48Billy Madison may not actively depict any stoner activities,
10:51but it absolutely shares the same kind of DNA.
10:54Back to school to prove to dad that I'm not a fool.
10:59I got my lunch packed up, my boots tied tight.
11:05I hope I don't get in a fight.
11:08Adam Sandler plays an overgrown man-child forced to repeat every grade in school,
11:12a set-up The Sandman repeated in various ways over the next two decades.
11:16The film thrives on juvenile humor and gross-out gags,
11:19never worrying too much about logic as long as the laughs keep coming.
11:21I drew the duck blue because I've never seen a blue duck before,
11:25and to be honest with you, I wanted to see a blue duck.
11:28Well, it's an excellent blue duck.
11:31Sandler's trademark style is also supported by the colorful supporting cast,
11:34who are clearly game for anything.
11:36With its immature but harmless humor,
11:38Billy Madison has become a long-time favorite for audiences,
11:40looking to switch off their brains and enjoy the ride.
11:43Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
11:47I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
11:54Okay, a simple wrong would have done just fine, but…
11:57Number 19.
11:58This is the end.
11:59Jonah Hill will be there.
12:00Can't stand him.
12:01He can't stand me.
12:02He's like the nicest guy in the world.
12:03He likes you so much.
12:04He specifically talks about how he likes you.
12:06Out of nowhere, he just said,
12:07You know what?
12:08Jay's an inspiration.
12:09There's no way he said that.
12:10Also, just can't stand him.
12:11It's not unusual for a movie to have at least one actor playing themselves,
12:15but for every actor to be playing themselves is far more rare.
12:18In this raunchy comedy, a star-studded house party is interrupted by the apocalypse.
12:23Survivors Jay Baruchel, Seth Rogen, James Franco, Craig Robinson, Jonah Hill, and Danny McBride
12:28are left in a hilarious and frightening predicament.
12:30Okay, I'm done.
12:31We're not going to have any more water.
12:33Good.
12:34Alright.
12:40As you'd expect from a movie written by and starring Seth Rogen,
12:44This is the End includes multiple references to a certain green substance,
12:47but it's audacious in ways that most studio comedies don't dare try.
12:50If this is the end of the world as we know it, we feel fine.
12:54Number 18.
12:55Mac and Devin go to high school.
12:57What are you doing here?
12:58Man, you was right, D Street.
13:00That graduation thing is important.
13:02Guess you finally came to your senses.
13:04Just hook me up to knowledge, college.
13:06When a movie stars Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa, it's pretty easy to tell what it's going to be about.
13:10In this comedy, Wiz plays Devin, a straight-laced high schooler who's introduced to a special
13:15substance by Mac, played by Snoop.
13:17The rappers are obviously way too old to play high schoolers,
13:20but if you're looking for things to make sense, you're watching the wrong movie.
13:23After all, at the very start, a talking joint addresses the audience.
13:27It's a movie you may need to be in the right mindset to enjoy, if you know what we mean.
13:31You passed that test, and we are definitely staying in.
13:35I can dig that.
13:36Number 17.
13:37Scary Movie.
13:38What's up?
13:39Any scary movie fan worth their salt knows exactly what we're talking about.
13:43The Wayne Brothers classic isn't a traditional stoner comedy,
13:46but it definitely borrows plenty from the genre's playbook.
13:49Hello, Drew.
13:58Alongside its relentless barrage of horror spoofs,
14:00the film features all kinds of outrageous sight gags,
14:03and plenty of pot-fueled antics through the always-baked shorty Meeks.
14:06Marlon Wayans steals nearly every scene he's in,
14:08delivering some of the franchise's most memorable one-liners.
14:11Yo.
14:12What's up?
14:22What you doing, son?
14:23Combined with the movie's non-serious approach to every moment,
14:26his antics give scary movie its unmistakable stoner streak.
14:29They may have gotten six films out of the formula,
14:31but the first one still stands out among the pack.
14:33Yo, what the deal?
14:34Yo, y'all watching this tape right now?
14:37That means I didn't make it.
14:39Either I'm a prisoner, or worse, dead.
14:42Number 16.
14:44How High
14:44Got blunt?
14:47Got weed?
14:48Before Mac and Devin, there was Silas and Jamal, the leads of How High,
14:52played by rappers Method Man and Red Man.
14:55Silas and Jamal are two friends who get their hands in some very special pot,
14:58and find themselves accepted to Harvard.
15:00We here at Harvard are rooted in tradition.
15:04How High is a classic slobs versus snobs comedy,
15:06just with a thick haze of smoke?
15:08And it's made all the better thanks to the combined chemistry of its stars,
15:11as well as a great supporting cast, including the late Spalding Gray as a professor.
15:15Whether rapping or acting, meth and red are always better together.
15:20Number 15.
15:21Wet Hot American Summer
15:22Looking back, it's still hard to believe how they got
15:24such a stacked cast to star in something so deliberately zany.
15:27After all, you can't find an actual talking can in any other movie, can you?
15:31Oh my god, oh my god.
15:33You are a loser, you are a loser.
15:36Oh my god, don't.
15:40But the movie never pretends to be anything otherwise.
15:42With essentially no end or beginning to the story,
15:44it makes up for its lack of sense by amping up its replay value.
15:47For certain other viewers, the movie is an opportunity to watch some of the most
15:50in-demand actors of the present day refusing to take themselves seriously.
15:54You have barbecue sauce all over your face.
15:57I know that.
15:58So?
15:59It's pretty foul.
16:00Wet Hot American Summer doesn't promote itself as a stoner comedy,
16:03but honestly, we're not sure how else you explain where all that behavior comes from.
16:06Look at me!
16:07Mom!
16:08I made it!
16:09I'm all king!
16:13Number 14.
16:14Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
16:16You'd be fools not to ride this strange torpedo all the way up to the end.
16:19Terry Gilliam's black comedy doesn't just involve mind-altering substances.
16:22It can also make you feel like you're on them.
16:24This adaptation of Hunter S. Thompson's novel stars Johnny Depp and Benicio Del Toro
16:29as Raul Duke and Dr. Gonzo, who take a very surreal trip through Sin City.
16:34Sequences like the adrenochrome scene are particularly noteworthy for how they convey an altered mindset.
16:40I'm innocent!
16:41It was two!
16:42It was two!
16:43Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is delightful for some and confounding for others,
16:47but it's an experience that sticks with you no matter what.
16:50Number 13.
16:52Ted
16:52All right, come on.
16:52Let's sing the thunder song.
16:53All right.
16:54When you hear the sound of thunder, don't you get too scared.
16:57Just grab your thunder, buddy, and say these magic words.
17:01If there's one thing Seth MacFarlane knows how to do,
17:03it's making adorable things rather unadorable.
17:06In his directorial debut,
17:08MacFarlane voices a foul-mouthed teddy bear who's best friends with John Bennett,
17:12played by Mark Wahlberg.
17:13Among Ted's many adult proclivities are hanging out on the couch and getting nice and relaxed.
17:17While Ted grows up over the course of the movie and learns how to be a better friend,
17:21he hasn't completely changed his ways.
17:23He's still smoking in Ted 2.
17:24We can't say we ever saw Teddy Ruxpin or Winnie the Pooh try this.
17:27Sometimes I think back to that Christmas morning when I was eight years old.
17:30I wish I'd just gotten a Teddy Ruxpin.
17:34Say that one more time.
17:35Number 12.
17:36Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.
17:38What brings you two dirt merchants to my neck of the woods?
17:40Oh, I'll tell you what our necks are doing in the woods.
17:43Where's our mother f***ing movie check?
17:45Before the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there was the Vue-us universe.
17:48Writer and director Kevin Smith's characters tend to be more slackers than superheroes.
17:53None are as famous as pot dealers Jay and Silent Bob, played by Jason Mewes and Smith.
17:58The duo take center stage in this comedy, in which they learn that a movie based on them
18:01is being made without their permission, so they head to Hollywood to set things right
18:05and get involved in some hilarious shenanigans.
18:08Jay and Silent Bob might not make a lot of sense if you're unfamiliar with Smith's previous work,
18:12but great scenes like the making of Good Will Hunting 2 ensure you'll have fun either way.
18:17I don't like the sound of them apples, Will.
18:19What are we gonna do?
18:21Jackie?
18:22Yeah?
18:24It's hunting season.
18:26Number 11.
18:26Grandma's Boy.
18:27Rise and shine!
18:30Go take a tinkle and be sure to wash your hands, then come down and have breakfast.
18:34Okay, Grandma.
18:35Some movies made by Adam Sandler's production company Happy Madison are instant hits.
18:39Others, like Grandma's Boy, need more time to find an audience.
18:42This raunchy comedy stars Sandler buddy Alan Covert as a video game tester,
18:46who ends up moving in with his grandmother and her friends.
18:49He also tries to woo co-worker Samantha and to best arrogant rival JP.
18:54Marijuana enters the mix through a special batch of tea and Grandma gets the giggles, as do we.
18:59I didn't know you were bringing people! I would've trimmed my antlers!
19:03Grandma's Boy underperformed in theaters, but became a cult hit following its home video release.
19:09Talk about aging gracefully.
19:11Number 10.
19:11Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure.
19:13Nearly four decades on, Bill and Ted continue to inspire generations of lovable slackers.
19:18With a time-traveling phone booth and boundless optimism, the goofy duo stumbles their way across time.
19:23Excellent!
19:25Watching the duo recruit Napoleon, Socrates and Billy the Kid through time is funny enough on its own,
19:30but it's their hilariously spaced out outlook that gives the film its enduring appeal.
19:36Bill! Check it out!
19:39We're right in the middle of a war, dude!
19:41Bill and Ted aren't stereotypical stoners. They're simply on a wavelength all their own.
19:45That easy-going attitude helped make Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure a cornerstone of stoner comedy
19:49culture, even without putting a joint in either hero's hand. Now that's what we call bodacious.
20:02They do get better.
20:03Number 9. Dude, Where's My Car?
20:05Dude, where's my car? Where's your car, dude?
20:10Dude, where's my car?
20:13Where's your car, dude?
20:15Recreational substances can affect one's memory to various degrees,
20:18which this comedy capitalizes on to great effect. Two friends, played by Ashton Kutcher and Sean
20:23William Scott, wake up after a night of fun to find Kutcher's car is gone. So, as you'd expect,
20:28they get into many escapades trying to recover it.
20:30You must be careful. Danger follows the continuum transfunctioner. So says Zoltan.
20:37These include encountering a cult and ostrich farmer and a dog who likes something you should
20:41never give your own dog. As amusing as the title is, it's by no means the funniest part of this
20:45movie.
20:46We'll always raise a Zoltan to Dude, Where's My Car?
20:49Number 8. Super Troopers.
20:50You want to know why I pulled you over?
20:54Littering.
20:56Officer, that's not ours.
20:58Candy bars.
20:59There are plenty of movies about law enforcement that are incredibly serious.
21:02And there's Super Troopers, which is only seriously funny.
21:05In this cult favorite from the Broken Lizard comedy troupe, highway patrolmen in small town
21:09Vermont work to prove their worth to their rivals, the local police department.
21:13Now, let me get this straight. You went into the impound, scaled the fence, broke into the Winnebago,
21:20and smashed the bed all in a hunch.
21:22While marijuana is involved in the plot, it's as part of a criminal investigation,
21:26not as a pastime for the main characters. Still, the movie is so silly,
21:29it's a perfect addition to the stoner comedy canon. In other words, it's so funny, it's criminal.
21:34Number 7. Half-Baked.
21:35You want highs, mediums, or low?
21:37How are the highs, man?
21:39I say they got kind of a piney taste, almost minty.
21:42Weed isn't just the plot element in Half-Baked. It is the plot.
21:45This comedy stars Dave Chappelle as a janitor who works with his stoner buddies to bail out their
21:50friend after he's arrested following a truly unfortunate accident.
21:53I fed the horse. I didn't know I was a diabetic. I was scared.
21:59Kenny? Kenny, stop crying. Stop crying, Kenny. Look at me.
22:03Things get complicated when their own weed business runs afoul of a drug kingpin,
22:07with an amusing script co-written by Chappelle and memorable cameos from the likes of Tommy Chong,
22:11Snoop Dogg, and Bob Saget, the laugh count is as high as the characters.
22:15It's not exactly The Wire, but it's definitely a lot funnier.
22:19Number 6. Pineapple Express.
22:21Check this out.
22:24Ah, satellite radio.
22:26Whoa!
22:28Got two TVs and radio.
22:30That's pretty rad.
22:31Nice home entertainment.
22:32While many movies produced by Judd Apatow and starring Seth Rogen have involved marijuana,
22:37none of them have dominated the plot quite like Pineapple Express. In this crime comedy,
22:42Rogen plays a stoner who witnesses a crime and goes on the run with his laid-back dealer,
22:46played by James Franco. The stakes are a lot higher than they are in most stoner comedies,
22:50but if you don't mind some violence mixed with your humor, this is the movie for you. Plus,
22:55this was the movie that introduced us to Danny McBride, so how can we not love it?
22:58I know this sounds weird, but can we be best friends? Just us, for real?
23:01I think we should all be best friends.
23:02We should be.
23:03Number 5. Friday.
23:04What I'm tripping on is how you gonna sell, bud, and you smoke it.
23:11I don't know. That's my only problem.
23:14Looking for a fun comedy to start your weekend with? You can't go wrong with Friday. This comedy,
23:19co-written by and starring Ice Cube, is about a couple of friends who need to raise $200 to avoid
23:24the wrath of a drug lord after smoking a stash that was meant to be sold.
23:27I can't believe you got me in the mix with this fool.
23:32Aw, man, I ain't put that joint to your lip and make you smoke it.
23:34Might as well. Come on, Craig, man. Stimulate your mind, man. It's Friday. I'm gonna get you hot.
23:41Things get chaotic as they try to raise the money, especially with the intimidating Deebo in the
23:46mix. Ice Cube and Chris Tucker make a great comedic pairing, and Friday is a movie we'll watch any day
23:52of
23:52the week. Number 4. Harold and Kumar go to White Castle.
23:55I am so hungry. I'll eat like 20 of those burgers, man.
23:59Dude, I will see your 20 burgers and raise you five more burgers in your eyes.
24:03A munchies-inspired run to get some sliders turns into a night to remember in this comedy.
24:08The first installment in a trilogy, buddies Harold and Kumar, played by John Cho and
24:12Cal Penn, are constantly thwarted in their attempt to reach their beloved burgers.
24:17Among the biggest obstacles is their unpredictable hitchhiker, who just so happens to be Neil Patrick Harris,
24:22playing a more outrageous version of himself.
24:25You know, we've been having a pretty crazy night, too. We've just been driving around
24:28looking for white caps, but we keep getting sidetracked.
24:30Yeah, dude, you fascinate me.
24:32Both Cho and Penn have proven themselves as capable dramatic actors, but Harold and Kumar will
24:36always be our favorite. And if you want to see a completely committed performance,
24:40just watch Neil Patrick Harris. Who knew a fast food run could become such an adventure?
24:44Are you employed, Mr. Lebowski?
24:49Wait, let me explain something to you. I am not Mr. Lebowski. You're Mr. Lebowski. I'm The Dude.
24:57Brothers Joel and Ethan Coen have made many great comedies, but none as memorable as this
25:01endlessly quotable classic. In this comedic take on a detective story, Jeff Bridges plays a slacker
25:06known as The Dude, who gets entangled in a kidnapping investigation involving a millionaire's wife.
25:11Along the way, he enjoys some white Russians and herbage and hits the bowling alley with his friends,
25:16Walter and Donnie. The Big Lebowski is uproarious and weird in equal measure and a great showcase
25:22for the talents of Bridges, John Goodman, and Steve Buscemi. The Dude abides, and so do we.
25:27Take it easy, dude. Oh, yeah. I know that you will. Yeah, well, the dude abides.
25:36Number two, Dazed and Confused. Remember the 70s? It's okay if you don't,
25:40because this nostalgic comedy puts you right there.
25:43Did you order some kegs of beer? No. Well, there's a fella in a beer truck out on the street
25:48that says you did. Oh, really? Yeah. Just a sec. Directed by indie darling Richard Linklater,
25:54Dazed and Confused chronicles various teens on the last day of school in Austin, Texas,
25:58with plenty of unsupervised debaucheries including a first weed experience. While things get hectic,
26:04the movie always feels grounded. This is thanks to the strength of the cast, including early roles for
26:09future A-listers Ben Affleck and Matthew McConaughey, as well as Linklater's excellent
26:13depiction of life in his home turf. Dazed and Confused will always be all right, all right,
26:21all right with us.
26:24Before we continue, be sure to check out WatchMojo's 24-hour livestream. All of your
26:28favorite videos in one place, 24-7. Always on, always live.
26:33Are you not entertained?
26:361. Cheech and Chong's Up in Smoke
26:38I've been smoking since I was born, man. I could smoke anything, man. You know,
26:43like I smoked that Michoacan, man, Acapulco Gold, man. I even smoked that tight stick, you know?
26:49Stoner Movie wasn't in the vernacular before Cheech and Chong's movie debut,
26:52and we doubt that many of the movies on this list could be made without it. Made for two million
26:57dollars and grossing more than a hundred million dollars, the film showed just how lucrative this
27:01seemingly niche subject matter could be. Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong play two potheads who end up on
27:06the run from the law in a van made entirely of weed. But as we said for previous entries in
27:15this list,
27:16the plot doesn't matter. Instead, you can just bask in the chemistry of its leads and the many
27:20hilarious misadventures they get into. When it comes to stoner comedies, Cheech and Chong did it
27:25first, and they did it best. Can you think of any other stoner films that deserve to be on this
27:30list?
