NU LIFE STRINGPOSTING

“NU LIFE STRINGPOSTING” is an audiovisual installation of infinite duration by Malísima (programming, music) and Kaelar August Xander (typography, vocals) under the alias notes of strings.

The installation uses the track “Blissfields” from the artists’ collaborative album “Impromptu Happenings In The Nuclear Warfare Industry”, which draws from Ecco2k’s “Bliss Fields” interlude and 2hollis’ “you once said my name for the first time” as the basis of the sonic palette.

Originally only meant as an academic noise collaboration, the idea for the installation only surged after a few live performances of Blissfields, such as the live edition at Generator or showcases at private events, which led to the publication of “Blissfields Recursed”, a remix album containing various takes of the installation throughout the production process.

The visuals are powered by a Discord bot programmed to output random sequences every 1-5 minutes, with a dataset that includes icons, phonemes and characters designed by Kaelar, and emojis taken from the tweets on the DJ Life Sim Twitter page, as an homage to one of the still unresolved mysteries in the PC Music community.

The bot is stored on Kaelar’s Discord server, which makes for an unfiltered public reaction each time, and allowing the spectators to be a part of the installation in real time, as messages can be sent by any members of the server.
