Part 3 - Rosie O'Donnell began guest hosting late night ABC TV talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live this week (August, 17 2026) while he is away for a summer break. I had recently rewatched '92 women's baseball comedy A League Of Their Own (O'Donnell played Doris). Thinking about this film, the connections (past & future) to hosts of major American TV talk shows became apparent:  - Jon Lovitz who plays scout Ernie acted with NBC Tonight Show host Johnny Carson in "Krusty Gets Cancelled" (S.4, E.22 - 1993) of FOX animated TV sitcom The Simpsons.  - Lovitz also made an appearance on another former Tonight Show host's show "Jay Leno's Garage" (S.5, E, 15) in 2020. - Late night host Conan O'Brien appeared as a character in the pilot episode of Lovitz's animated sitcom, The Critic in 1994.  - Pop singer Madonna played Mae in "League" & while she did not host a major talk show, but her racy exchange in a 1994 David Letterman interview in 1994 drew worldwide attention. - Director Penny Marshall worked with comedian/ actress Whoopi Goldberg in '86 comedy Jumpin' Jack Flash.  - Lori Petty (Kit) also has an indirect link to Goldberg through extreme sports / heist film Point Break ('91). She & Patrick Swayze were later in romantic drama Ghost in 1990. - Goldberg independently hosted a late night talk show between '92-'93 & took over main hosting duties on ABC's The View in 2007.
