00:00Every morning a little bird sang from the same tree.
00:03The animals would stop to listen.
00:05And every day they told him,
00:07Your song is beautiful.
00:10Then one morning the bird missed a note.
00:12Most of the animals didn't care.
00:15But one crow laughed.
00:17That sounded terrible.
00:19That evening the bird couldn't stop thinking about it.
00:22Not the animals who praised him.
00:24Not all the beautiful songs he'd sung before.
00:27Just that one comment.
00:29The next morning he sang again,
00:31but now he was afraid of making another mistake.
00:34Soon he stopped singing completely.
00:36An old owl noticed and asked,
00:39Why don't you sing anymore?
00:41The bird replied,
00:43Maybe I'm just not very good.
00:45The owl looked at him and said,
00:47Ninety-nine beautiful songs couldn't convince you that you were good,
00:51but one bad note convinced you that you weren't.
00:55The bird went silent.
00:57And people do this too.
00:59A hundred compliments can make us smile.
01:01But somehow one insult is what we remember before we sleep.
01:06Psychologists call this negativity bias.
01:08So be careful which voice you make the loudest.
01:11One negative opinion shouldn't erase all the good that came before it.
01:15Gukk,
01:15I'm just going to actually leave now,
01:15But once again..
01:15I'm talented.
01:15Bye-bye.
