00:00A landlord once locked a wild rhinoceros inside a strong iron cage.
00:04Every day, he fed it 40 kilograms of fresh grass and grain.
00:07The rhino ate happily and slowly became used to receiving plenty of food without having to search
00:12for it. After a few days, the amount was reduced to 20 kilograms, but it still ate everything
00:17without complaint. 10 days later, it was given only 10 kilograms of food. At that point,
00:22the rhino started becoming irritated and aggressive because it had already become
00:26accustomed to having much more. But one day, when only 2 kilograms of food were placed in front of
00:31it, the sudden drop drove it almost insane. In anger, it began smashing its horns against the
00:36iron gate again and again, as if the cage itself had betrayed it. In the process, it badly injured
00:42its own head and horns. Eventually, exhausted and in pain, it collapsed beside that small amount of
00:48food and died while struggling. It was not hunger that killed the rhino. It was the sudden loss of
00:53what it had become accustomed to receiving. In psychology, this is called the expectation gap
00:57effect. When a person becomes used to receiving too much, even a small reduction can start feeling
01:02like cruelty or betrayal. That's why people who benefit from you every single day can sometimes
01:07turn against you the moment you refuse them even once. They don't always miss what you gave them.
01:12They become angry because they believe they were entitled to it. The more you give without limits,
01:16the more normal it becomes in their eyes, until even your smallest no feels like an attack.
01:21So remember, kindness is good, but unlimited kindness can create unlimited expectations.
