00:01Darlin Brown faced some criticism for her response to a debate earlier this week where
00:05she said national security is not her thing.
00:08Is that acceptable?
00:09Well, no.
00:09All she was is being honest.
00:10She's very smart, and she was being honest.
00:14I mean, she's into the price of groceries, the price of food, the price of beef.
00:19And it's not — it hasn't been her thing, but she's surrounded by very good people.
00:24And she said that she's totally for the military.
00:27I mean, she's going to do what the military wants, and really what the President wants.
00:32She understands that national security is my thing.
00:35And she is a terrific woman who answered that.
00:39I watched that.
00:40I thought it was a very honest answer, actually.
00:43Mr. President, can we hear you, Mr. President, on the ballroom, sir?
00:47Do you guarantee that no tax money will be used in the construction of the ballroom?
00:52You know, we're nobody — we're spending hundreds of millions of dollars on the ballroom.
00:57And it's all from people like me and great companies that are putting it up.
01:02It's going to be close to $400 million.
01:05And it's all paid for by patriots and patriotic companies, big companies.
01:12I'll name the companies probably over the next couple of weeks, but I want to ask if they
01:17mind.
01:18But — and really, most of them have said, you could use my name gladly.
01:22So that's all money.
01:23No taxpayer money for the ballroom at all.
01:25Did you direct Secretary Besson to intervene in the bond market?
01:30No.
01:31Not at all.
01:32No.
01:32He's a very capable man.
01:34He wanted to do it.
01:35He's very good at it.
01:36He has a good touch — very good, natural touch for the bonds and interest.
01:40And he did that.
01:42Yeah.
01:42The yields have come back up since then.
01:44Have you talked to him about another type of intervention?
01:46Is that something he will be doing?
01:48We have many types of intervention.
01:49That's one.
01:50The ultimate intervention is our military.
01:53And if we have to use that, we will.
01:55Yeah.
01:55The move on beef imports is upsetting some ranchers as well as some Republicans are asking
02:01you to delay that move on imports.
02:03Well, we want to get the beef prices down.
02:05So we'll get them down a little bit.
02:07And that's what people want.
02:08That's what the voters want.
02:10And that's what I want.
02:11The ranchers are great.
02:13They're my people.
02:14I love the ranchers.
02:14They've done a fantastic job.
02:16But they admit that we need a little help in order to get the prices down.
02:21So that's what we're doing.
