00:00Let's talk about yesterday, and then we'll ask Rusty why he's at peace.
00:04I've never seen him so calm.
00:05I'm at peace.
00:05I've never seen him so serene.
00:08We'll get to that.
00:08But here's Stefanski yesterday in Indy.
00:11Yes, that viral video of Tua surfaced of him running around looking like he's never been on a football field
00:16before.
00:17Like Duck, Duck, Goose.
00:19I did hear some folks say that Indy writers and Indy seem to have an agenda to, like, make us
00:25look and sound.
00:26Like, just crap on Tua to no level.
00:28Although, typically, I don't know that beat writers of a team really care to try to stroke, you know, their
00:35own franchise and make others.
00:36Like, it's a little out of character to think they're just killing us because they're Indy guys.
00:42Like, I think people think Tua's looked bad.
00:44Yeah, I didn't take it that way.
00:46Yeah, I know.
00:47But they've really gone out of their way to show you how bad Tua has been.
00:51Kevin Stefanski was asked about the quarterback competition going on right now.
00:55Like I see every other, quote-unquote, battle on the roster, guys are working hard.
01:00Obviously, like you know, Mike's not cleared yet for the 11-on-11 work, but he's doing a great job.
01:04I mean, he's preparing as if he's getting every rep out here.
01:07And so I'm very pleased with what he's doing.
01:09I'm pleased with Tua, Coop, and Jack and what they're able to do on a daily basis.
01:13But I think all of these, you could call every position a battle because it's a battle every day.
01:17These guys are working hard to improve, you know, incrementally over time here and then get ready for the season.
01:24Yeah, saying nothing there.
01:25I mean, saying absolutely nothing.
01:26I mean, I'm happy with Cooper, Tua, and Michael Penix.
01:30Okay.
01:31The only thing he didn't say was stacking days.
01:33Yeah.
01:33I mean, like, if you're happy with that, okay.
01:35Hey, evaluating or trying to evaluate the difference between these joint practices and obviously a regular practice.
01:44How much weight do you put into it?
01:46Well, there's double the amount of film you've got to watch.
01:48So you watch the tape and you're not done yet.
01:51Do you evaluate it differently?
01:52Sure.
01:52Yeah, because it's different schemes.
01:54And, you know, I'm not aware of what the call is on either side of the ball.
01:58So I'm learning like you guys are and what's being run on the other side, if you will.
02:02So, yeah, I think there's a tremendous amount of value to these.
02:05And I think you guys saw yesterday, and I have a ton of respect for Shane and what he's done
02:09here and what he continues to do here.
02:10And I thought it was really good professional work on all three sides of the ball.
02:17All right.
02:18Let's just cut to the chase.
02:20And that is Michael Penix talking about what sounds like not getting cleared by his doctors and him making it
02:30clear.
02:31I feel great.
02:33I'm running around.
02:35I'm excited to be out there.
02:37But what my doctors have not figured out yet is if I can take a hit in that part of
02:44the body.
02:45That's their job.
02:45If I can take a roll up on it.
02:46That's their job.
02:48I heard it described as it completely connected that part of the ACL the way it's supposed to.
02:54If they see any element that they still feel like that thing is not nearly as strong.
02:59They don't care about week five against it.
03:04That's not their job.
03:04They have to look at it like, I have no idea what you do.
03:08If you're going to ask me, could you handle a 270-pound lineman rolling into it or slamming into that?
03:13Let's give it layman's terms.
03:14If you're a car mechanic and Stake Superior brings his car in there, you want to know if you can
03:18drive that thing on the street or not.
03:21Can you turn on the street in that car after a car mechanic looks at it?
03:25Are you good to go or are you not?
03:26I don't want to psychoanalyze too much his tone, but tell me what you think of Michael Penix discussing that
03:33yesterday.
03:34I mean, I do a lot of drill work.
03:36As far as a pocket, I can do everything.
03:38If I had a rush coming at me and everything, I can get away.
03:41But it's just right now, if I don't get away, that's what we're thinking about.
03:44If I don't get away, I don't think my doctor is ready for me to take those hits right now.
03:50But that time is coming real soon.
03:52Yeah, I mean, I don't think he's ready.
03:54So everybody has the four-week mark.
03:56I think it's tomorrow or something.
03:59That was, and again, I thought that was way overstating.
04:03I got four weeks till I'll be looked at again.
04:06That's all it really meant.
04:06I can't do anything physical for four weeks, and then we'll look at it again.
04:10Why people think that's the deadline, that he's going to get cleared, and he could be
04:15under center in the next two weeks and get the starting job.
04:18Yeah.
04:18He's going to get the starting job when he's cleared.
04:20No doubt about that.
04:21He's getting the starting job.
04:23It's not even like having a short leash.
04:26There is nothing to be gained by having Tua Tungvaloa out there.
04:29Nothing.
04:29You've got to figure out Michael Penix Jr., and I'm more and more leaning to the fact
04:33that we're going to be picking in the top five or top eight, and that we're going to be
04:37picking a quarterback in one of the most quarterback-laden first-round drafts in recent memory,
04:43although we had one a couple of years ago, obviously.
04:45It's 50%.
04:46It's 50%.
04:47So the last one was four out of six.
04:50It's four for four, which is rare, right?
04:54It's four for four with Caleb, Drake, Bo, and Jaden.
05:00That's four for four.
05:02Penix isn't incomplete.
05:03McCarthy looks like it might be a fail.
05:05And that's a great odds.
05:07That's a great odds.
05:08Yeah, that's a great odds.
05:08That's a great odds.
05:09So when you look at the injuries and you look at the personnel and you look at a plethora
05:17of one-year deals, everybody understands the business of what Matt Ryan and the entire
05:24regime is putting in place.
05:27And that is not to try to play, where's the Super Bowl this year?
05:31Is it Las Vegas or whatever?
05:34When you don't know, it's not a priority.
05:37Yeah, so that's not what we're building toward.
05:39But you have watched 60 years of a franchise that has been beat up as much as any franchise
05:44ever, you have watched now the worst loss in history of sports, playoff loss, 1980 Danny
05:52White, the famous Super Bowl loss, obviously the Eugene Robinson, but now you've lost, you've
05:56had eight years out of the playoffs.
05:58Why are you so much more calm than I've seen you when it comes to talking about the franchise?
06:04Because we are one million behind the scenes, one million percent building toward next year
06:12and the future.
06:12We have a lot of money, we lost our two, we lost our two.
06:18You're calm.
06:19I'm calm.
06:19You're zen.
06:20I'm zen, man.
06:22Whatever we, we are so house money this year, we signed 93 guys to one-year contracts, basically.
06:28You know what I mean?
06:30We signed our best, we signed, this is, man, don't put me to sleep now, I've been on the
06:35air a long time this week.
06:37We signed our best young players, they're all signed, we're good.
06:41B.
06:42John, Drake, Kyle Pitts, Jalen Walker's the first rounder, he's fine.
06:45James Pierce will come back from the suspension at some point.
06:47He's fine.
06:48Matthew Bergeron.
06:49Bergeron, we had a great draft last year.
06:51We are in trouble this year.
06:54We're in bad back trouble.
06:56I'm okay with that.
06:57You're okay?
06:58I'm okay because I have walked into here, and you and I tried to convince ourselves that
07:02Desmond Ritter was the answer.
07:04And we were hoping he was.
07:05So what do you say to those Falcon fans listening right now?
07:10We've been through 40 years of hell anyway.
07:12They are not calm like you.
07:13We've been through 40 years of hell.
07:15If I can tell you that we're going to go, if we're going to win four games this year,
07:21I can look you in the eye and say, if they made the right hire, bringing Matt Ryan in
07:26the building, if they made the right hire with this GM and this head coach, we have
07:31got all the tools to build something that can turn quickly.
07:35This isn't a five-year turnaround.
07:37To me, this is a two-year.
07:39You've got to get your quarterback.
07:40I don't know if Penix is not it.
07:42We're going to find out with him.
07:43In the other case, y'all are killing me with this.
07:45I'm talking about, I'm waiting on Bo Morgan to come in here and like kung fu somebody.
07:50Um, you, you do this and you look at that and you go, well, this is not a four-year
07:56build.
07:56This is, we're going to have a hell of a draft pick.
07:58It's a quarterback deep draft.
08:00If Penix isn't our guy, we've got a chance to get our guy and you can plug and play.
08:04Now these guys, here's the thing you and Sandra talked about quarterbacks and the 50% hit
08:08rate stake.
08:09A lot of these guys are playing a lot more games now.
08:11They're getting a lot better.
08:12They have much more experience coming into the NFL.
08:15So 404-726-0929.
08:19Can you get yourself in a Zen place with a really bad season coming?
08:24Can you feel like I'm okay?
08:28Because I'm a house money.
08:29I think we're walking into a very bad year, but I'm, I, I, I hope to God we have that.
08:35I hope to God we have that.
08:37You know what?
08:38I don't know what happened to that team.
08:39Yeah.
08:39I don't know what happened to that team.
08:41I don't know how they won 10.
08:42I hope we're sitting here doing that.
08:43I hope we're doing that.
08:45Can you find the same place that Rusty is at or are you ready to burn it down in terms
08:52of your anger this year?
08:53Because we are about to get slapped around unless I don't know anything about anything.
08:58We can't stop him on defense, man.
08:59We're in trouble there.
09:00We're going to give up yards on the ground.
09:02Can't stop the run.
09:03That we haven't seen since the Union Army came through Atlanta taking us out on the ground.
09:10Like, it's going to be 404-726-0929.
09:15I hope I'm wrong.
09:15I want to be wrong.
09:16About this year.
09:17About this year.
09:18Yeah.
09:18The future of the Falcons, I feel good.
09:20I'm telling you now.
09:21404-726-0929.
09:24Can you get zen like Rusty?
09:27504-11326-0929.
09:27504-170-926-0029.
