00:00When was the last time you ordered jeans online and they actually fit?
00:04For many shoppers, getting the right size means ordering multiple options and sending most of them back.
00:10It's convenient for customers, but a costly headache for retailers.
00:14I'm here at Zalando's Fitting Lab in Berlin, where the company is trying to fix that with AI-powered fitting
00:20rooms.
00:21The idea? Instead of guessing your size, you upload a photo of yourself.
00:26AI then creates a personalized avatar that shows how clothes would actually fit your body.
00:31Behind the scenes, Zalando is scanning garments in 3D to digitally recreate how fabrics stretch and move, making the fit
00:39as realistic as possible.
00:41And they're not alone.
00:43Retailers like Zara and Asus are rolling out their own versions of virtual fitting tech, betting this could finally reduce
00:49returns.
00:50Because they are one of the industry's biggest problems, costing billions every year,
00:54they're also bad for the environment, as they cause extra transport and packaging waste.
00:59And in some cases, clothes aren't even resold and end up in landfill.
01:03For now, the technology is still limited to certain items, and it remains to be seen if it succeeds in
01:09changing shopping habits.
01:11But if it catches on, it could make online shopping less frustrating, both for retailers and consumers.
01:17Thank you so much for having me say thank you for having me today's time, just for what I really
01:17need to say.
01:17Thank you to all of you in the next few hours.
01:17Thank you so much for having me say thank you for having me today.
01:17I'm sw Stopped in.
