Beauty is now motoring deeper into Everglades National Park, making her way toward Everglades City. With the wind eased, the engine takes over as I single-hand the Bristol 32 through the winding channels of the Ten Thousand Islands.
Surrounded by mangroves and wilderness, this is Florida far removed from the developed coast. Alligators, snakes, birds, and other wildlife inhabit these remote waterways, making every mile an adventure.
Navigating the shallow channels and tidal waters alone aboard a Bristol 32 demands constant attention. But this is exactly why I sail—to experience places like the Everglades from the water, moving slowly through a landscape that remains remarkably wild.
Beauty continues toward Everglades City, with the mangroves and wilderness stretching in every direction.
