00:02We are doing this program in Pune, you must have heard about it.
00:06Chhatro Ki Gunj program, only for women.
00:09And in preparing some of the stuff for that program,
00:14the presentation for that program, I decided that I would ask the ladies in my team
00:21about what their thoughts are, being Indian women.
00:26And so we did this little exercise where each one of them put out over 20, 30, 40 minutes
00:33exactly how they felt being an Indian woman, how society treated them, the good things, the bad things.
00:41And I thought it was quite a good exercise because it helped us a lot,
00:45helped me understand a little bit about what you're feeling.
00:48My team decided, why not open this to everybody and make it accessible.
00:55And let's ask the women who are going to be coming to this program,
00:58the women who are going to see this program, what they feel about being an Indian woman.
01:03What does society do to them? How is fear weaponized against them?
01:07What type of violence do they face? Where do they face this violence?
01:10How does it make them feel as citizens of this country?
01:14We got some wonderful answers, profound answers.
01:17So I thought I'd read some of them out to you.
01:19And I love this one.
01:21Constantly facing control, disguised as concern.
01:25Paper leaks, no affordable college, or simply not being good at studies leads to early marriage.
01:32Patriarchy killing dreams, moral policing and being threatened for expressing.
01:37Unheard, compromised, misunderstood, made fun of, abused, overworked, but then called a Devi.
01:46Oppressed by the government and society, zero safety, worse medical facilities for women.
01:52We don't get to choose how we want to live our life.
01:55Fear, struggle, sacrifice, somebody's daughter, somebody's wife.
02:09Being told we can't dress how we want because men might lose control.
02:14This is the type of discussion we need to have so that we can together improve the situation, the conditions
02:22Indian women face in their lives.
02:24I would invite as many of you to join the conversation in Pune.
02:30These are the type of conversations that we need to be having.
02:34Looking forward to seeing you all day.
