00:00Yesterday I got a question about women which I answered but since then I have been thinking about it more
00:09deeply.
00:10And I was thinking to myself that the energy of India's women is trapped, is not allowed to express itself,
00:30is not allowed to imagine.
00:35And to me no country can be successful if the women in that country are not expressing themselves.
00:49And I think a lot of my politics and a lot of what politics should be in this country is
00:58in making people understand.
01:01And not from a top down perspective but making people understand that our country is stunted, is incomplete without the
01:16expression of our women.
01:17And that's not just them doing well in business or them doing well in the political system.
01:28No, that's literally them being able to express themselves in their houses.
01:35That's them being able to walk the streets comfortably.
01:39That's them putting a point of view that maybe others don't agree with.
01:44That's them questioning their parents, their husbands, their brothers, sisters, whatever.
01:51So a certain amount of freedom from this patriarchy, from the control that, sorry I'm a man and I'm saying

02:00but from the rigid control that India's men impose on their women is required if India has to really develop.
02:08And this is something I really believe strongly.
02:10And it's embedded in the political philosophy that I subscribe to.
02:17And it's been assaulted, it's been put in the back seat, it's been sort of pushed back, challenged.
02:25And one of the things that we absolutely have to do is we have to, you know, reinvigorate it,
02:33bring women back into the conversation where they should be and allow them to express themselves and do what they
02:40want.
