00:00Ellsford School played against Barming You Football Club to remember a student who passed away far too soon.
00:08Joe Markovitch was just 16 years old when he collapsed in his mother's arms at home
00:14and was airlifted to King's College Hospital by air ambulance charity Kent Surrey Sussex.
00:22Joe died from a brain haemorrhage back in 2019
00:26and events like this are important for remembering him
00:31and giving funds to air ambulance charity Kent Surrey Sussex.
00:37So of course there's something more important to the captains and players here than victory.
00:43Tonight means the absolute world to me.
00:45Joe was a lovely boy growing up.
00:48We used to play cricket together. He was a very lovely kid.
00:52Obviously this is a remembrance of Joe and obviously to raise a lot of money as well for KSS.
00:56Kent Surrey Sussex Air Ambulance so tonight means a lot to me and especially obviously to his parents over there
01:02who loves him dearly.
01:04Yeah it's massively important.
01:06I mean the Kent Air Ambulance is a vital part of trying to get Joe as much help as possible
01:15before we unfortunately pass.
01:17So we sort of really thank and respect their efforts so that's why we do it you know.
01:23The charity's efforts and Joe's goodwill have gone on to save lives.
01:28It's always emotional this time of year and being that this is the fifth one that we've done for KSS
01:36since Joe died.
01:38We've raised nearly hopefully after tonight over £20,000 for them in Joe's memory.
01:43But it's so emotional with the love that's still being shown to Joe seven years on from when he died.
01:50Yes very important.
01:52I mean we've probably saved eight or nine lives I think.
01:55What was the donor?
01:56The donation.
01:57Yeah.
01:58So he's living on somewhere in the country with his eyes, lungs was it, lungs?
02:04Lungs, eyes, heart.
02:06No liver failed.
02:07Yeah no liver carried, liver.
02:09Yeah liver, heart, lungs, kidney and eyes he donated.
02:15Just giving the chance for people to live on.
02:17It's just incredible really.
02:19Barming Youth Football Club took the win 9-2 but everyone here smashed the £1,000 target raising just under
02:29£2,600.
02:31Keep flying high Joe.
