E-tricycles built for typhoon-hit weather gain popularity in Southeast Asia

At an electric tricycle factory in Wuxi, east China's Jiangsu Province, Zhang Liukang and his staff were conducting rain-proof tests on their vehicles. Mainly exported to Southeast Asia, the tricycles address a top concern among local consumers by offering strong rain resistance. Fuel-powered tricycles once dominated transportation across Southeast Asia, while clean and convenient electric models were rarely seen on the road. In 2009, while working in the Philippines, Zhang spotted the business opportunity and ventured into the electric tricycle trade.

Xishan District of Wuxi is known as China's hometown of electric vehicles. Boasting a full-fledged industrial chain, the district's electric-vehicle products are sold to 140 countries and regions, drawing a growing number of entrepreneurs to pursue their business ambitions here.
