00:01I think we're really worried about the state of the public health system in Victoria at
00:05the moment. We're seeing shifts unfilled every day and we're just going on and doing those
00:09jobs as well as our own and there's a real concern about the safety of the Victorian
00:12public in our hospitals. A lot of what we're asking for is just to be paid for the work
00:16that we're doing at the moment. There's a lot of unpaid overtime, our specialists are
00:20taking phone calls at home and not being paid for those phone calls overnight as well and
00:24then access to leave and improving the retention of our rural and regional doctors as well
00:28is something we've asked for. I have friends that I don't see because they're working every
00:32evening in the hospitals really long hours. We all have friends where they've had a micro
00:36sleep on the road or there's been concerns about accidents and it's something that really worries
00:40us and I have a lot of colleagues that are thinking about leaving the profession altogether. So the
00:44stop work this afternoon will be four hours but there'll be a meeting of an hour but all of our
00:49consideration is towards the safety of the Victorian public and the patients in our hospital at the
00:53moment. So potentially you may wait a little bit longer than usual to see a doctor but there will
00:58be absolutely no disruption to our emergency services. So our doctors working in our EDs and ICU
01:02will be working as usual and we'll be making sure that there's adequate staff on the wards as well
01:07so that there's safe coverage.
