00:01Do I go after you?
00:04Are you Natasha Bedingfield?
00:05Yeah!
00:05Oh my gosh, it's almost like this is Unwritten.
00:07I'm so sorry to bother you.
00:08Can I ask you a couple questions?
00:10Sure.
00:10Okay, Unwritten is an iconic song.
00:12Why do people love it?
00:13I think it's the lyrics.
00:14It says release your inhibitions and everyone can sing along.
00:16I feel like there are rumors about new music.
00:19There's a new song called Dot Dot Dot, out now,
00:21and it's like the other side of the coin to Unwritten.
00:24I could just like sit at home and just keep singing Unwritten for the rest of my life.
00:28A hundred percent.
00:29But I was like let's just put out some new music.
00:31It's anthemic, it's energetic.
00:33A lot of artists think of their music in terms of visuals.
00:36Yeah, I'm very visual so I'm always seeing like what's the video gonna look like even before I do it.
00:41If it were a mood board, what would be on the Dot Dot Dot mood board?
00:44I see a lot of kind of sporty kind of things like grit and sweat and blood and tears.
00:49Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:49I'm thinking of like there's a toughness to it.
00:51I'm the person who also writes songs about weather.
00:53I'll get all the sunshine, feel the rain in your skin.
00:55Like I needed another bit of weather to write about but the wind wasn't gonna cut it
00:59because if you write a song about wind, everyone's gonna make gas jokes.
01:03Your music has been featured in TV shows, movies, and most recently,
01:07Glenn Powell popularized it once again in Anyone But You.
01:11What does it feel like as an artist to see your music in a huge film like that?
01:15It's amazing because that film had a very unique use of that song where they had every single scene,
01:21people were singing a different line from the song.
01:24The actors must have been like, what is the director's idea here?
01:28Like when it came together to the most beautiful montage,
01:30for me I was like, wow, this is like a love letter to my song.
01:34What is your going on stage ritual?
01:36I do like a lot of warming up for my vocals and with my band who are excellent musicians,
01:41we do like an OM together.
01:42Can we try it?
01:43Yeah.
01:44I don't sing, but we could try it.
01:47Do I go after you?
01:48Keep going.
01:50And when you keep on going, then I take a breath.
01:52Oh, I'm like out of breath. I don't know how you do this.
01:55By the way, it's really weird.
01:57I have felt this thing in my pocket the whole time.
02:01It's so cheesy.
02:02It's almost like I knew you were gonna be here.
02:04Final question on this never-ending elevator ride.
02:07What's the name of the new album?
02:08Because I'm dying to know.
02:10I think that that is my style.
02:12Oh.
02:13I'll take this with me if I can.
02:14Yeah, it's all yours.
02:15This is my floor.
02:16It's lovely to meet you.
02:16It was so good to meet you.
