At approximately 8:30 a.m. on Friday, August 14, a frightening roadside emergency in Beaumont, Texas, became an incredible story of courage when a Good Samaritan and police officer worked together to save a child and driver from a burning vehicle.

The vehicle had left the roadway after the driver suffered a medical emergency. When police arrived, the engine compartment was on fire—and a bystander was already reaching through a broken rear window, desperately trying to free a child trapped in a car seat.

The responding officer handed the Good Samaritan a knife, allowing him to cut through the car-seat straps and pull the child safely through the window. The officer then broke the driver’s window and rescued the adult inside.

The driver and child were transported to a hospital with no apparent injuries reported.

Beaumont Police publicly praised the Good Samaritan for his bravery and quick response.

We may not know his name, but we know what he did.
