The name Tüfelsschlucht means “The Devil’s Gorge” and this is considered to be one of the most beautiful of the numerous gorges in the Jura. The 2.2km long gorge winds its way along the Cholersbach Stream and is connected by 32 bridges and catwalks.

The entrance to the gorge is located in the middle of the village of Hägendorf. The name comes from a legend that says a demon once became lost in the gorge and made his home there. But then one day the demon was driven away from the devilishly beautiful gorge. He left behind steep rock faces, grottoes, caves, waterfalls and slot holes.

The easily walkable path winds its way over bridges and catwalks, wide caves and chasms up to Allerheiligenberg Mountain. Around each bend you’ll find new vistas and sights and a few surprises.
