00:00Today I am going to test the resistance of several shields so we can find out which materia
00:04is the strongest.
00:05There is a cardboard shield, wood, aluminium, steel and finally a pineapple shield that's
00:10said to be extremely fireproof.
00:12Is that really true?
00:13Today we are going to find out.
00:15Shields were widely used in medieval times especially before firearms existed when people
00:21were still using handheld weapons.
00:23With that in mind I prepared three tests for each shield.
00:26The first one is a common object that could be thrown at the shield so we are going to
00:30test the resistance by throwing an apple.
00:32Then Stepaneropa bead will use a slingshot to launch much more destructive objects.
00:37And finally we are going to shoot with this extremely powerful buen arrow.
00:42Will the shields hold up?
00:43I don't know especially since the arrow tips here are really sharp so I believe they could
00:48do some serious damage to the shields but we are about to find out.
00:52And the first shield we are going to test is this one here made of cardboard.
00:55And since it's cardboard you might already imagine it's something extremely fragile and all
01:00but actually this specific cardboard has a really hard and rigid layer, a thick layer
01:04that might have good resistance.
01:06I'm going to leave the shield attached here to this wall positioned right in the center.
01:10And let's go to the first test which in this case will be an apple.
01:14And as you can see the apple is already spoiled so there won't be any waste here.
01:18Three, two, one.
01:22Wow, what a hit! The apple practically disintegrated.
01:26As for the shield it basically did nothing, it just got a little wet but look, it didn't
01:30even get dented.
01:31Like I told you this shield here isn't weak at all.
01:34Let's go then!
01:36Three, two, one.
01:39Yeah, now I can see a little mark there.
01:41The nut managed to make a big hole in the front of the shield and went through.
01:44Look, but honestly I was already expecting that.
01:48After all, even though it's thick cardboard and much more resistant, it's still cardboard.
01:52The arrow I'm going to test is this one here, really sharp.
01:55And I positioned the shield lower with a wooden backing because it will probably go through
01:59and if the arrow hits the wall I think it will break it.
02:02Three, two, one.
02:05Wow, it pierced easily.
02:07It hid right here and went through.
02:09In fact, the tip of the arrow penetrated the wood here and even split it.
02:13Now let's go to our second shield which will be the aluminum shield.
02:18And even though aluminum is a strong metal, this shield here has really thin aluminum.
02:23So I believe it's actually less resistant than the wooden one.
02:27That's why we are going to test it first and starting off with the apple.
02:35Wow, it completely smashed it.
02:37These are its remains and the shield just got dirty.
02:42It didn't dent, it didn't do anything.
02:44But now I want to see it with the slingshot.
02:46Three, two, one.
02:48I hit right here in the center of the shield and it left a mark.
02:52It didn't pierce the shield or anything.
02:54If someone were behind it, it would have protected them.
02:56But it did leave a nice little mark here.
02:58Now let's move on to the bow and arrow.
03:00And since this arrow is really sharp, I believe it will pierce it.
03:05Come on.
03:06Damn, I don't think it did anything.
03:08The arrow hit right here.
03:09You can see a little mark.
03:11On the back, there's a little bump here.
03:14But it didn't actually go through.
03:16Look at that.
03:16It was tougher than I expected.
03:18Ah, we still have these two shields to test.
03:21The wooden one and then Captain America's indestructible armored steel shield.
03:26And also the fireproof pineapple shield.
03:28Which I'm really looking forward to seeing if it's really that tough.
03:31So now it's time for the wooden one.
03:33This is a shield made of tough wood.
03:36Pretty tough actually.
03:37It's about two centimeters thick.
03:39Medieval shield.
03:40And honestly, I think it's going to hold up to everything.
03:43First test then, apple.
03:46Wow, that was a strong hit, huh?
03:48But it just got dirty.
03:49Now it's the slingshot.
03:54Wow, I think it hit the cross.
03:56It hit right here.
03:58It loosened the cross that was attached to these little holes here.
04:02And it even marked the wood made a little hole.
04:05But still, if someone was behind the shield, they would be completely protected.
04:09But what about the bow and arrow?
04:10Would the person also be protected?
04:12Let's see.
04:14I missed.
04:15Wow, I hit the concrete and it made a hole.
04:17Let's try again.
04:19Wow, what a hit.
04:20The first arrow struck this joint in the concrete.
04:23And look at the hole it made here.
04:24I can fit my fingernail in it.
04:26And the second one hit the shield dead on.
04:28It penetrated the wood.
04:29I'll even put my finger in here so we can see how deep it went.
04:32Look, it went in at least a centimeter.
04:35But I don't think it went all the way through.
04:37Yeah, see?
04:38There is nothing here.
04:39So far, these first shields are pretty tough.
04:41Let's see if Captain America's shield holds up the same way.
04:46There, music and slingshot.
04:52And bow and arrow.
04:56Wow!
04:56On that last one, the arrow flew and I think it even got bent.
05:00Look at this.
05:01It bent the arrow.
05:02Broke it.
05:02Do you remember how it was?
05:04It was pointy.
05:05Look at how the tip is now.
05:06Flat.
05:07The apple just tickled the shield.
05:09Just made it dirty.
05:10I think the slingshot hit here because there are two marks from the screw.
05:14Just like on the other object.
05:15And the arrow.
05:16The most that happened was it made a slight scratch here.
05:19Nothing more than that.
05:20But that was to be expected.
05:22After all, this Captain America shield has even withstood gunshots.
05:25So of course it would resist a slingshot and a bow and arrow.
05:28Right?
05:28And now it's time for the pineapple shield.
05:31I'm going to cover this cardboard here with just the pineapple peel.
05:41The pineapple shield is ready.
05:42The idea here is to set fire to this pineapple peel.
05:45And since it's made of cardboard, we're going to check if the cardboard underneath gets burned or not.
05:50But remember, this is a scientific test taking all safety measures.
05:54So don't try this at home.
05:55Let's go.
05:57You can already see that the outside of the peel is getting scorched.
06:01Even turning a bit of a different color.
06:05Kind of dark, kind of black.
06:08I'm really curious to see if this is going to work.
06:11I saw several videos saying that the pineapple peel is actually super fireproof.
06:17Because of all the liquids inside it.
06:19It could withstand high temperatures without letting any heat pass through it.
06:23Acting as a thermal insulator.
06:25So that's what we are testing.
06:26We are going to let it roast a lot.
06:28In a bit, we'll take off the peel and see if the heat transferred and if it burnt the cardboard.
06:33The peel is already getting pretty dark, huh?
06:36It looks like charcoal.
06:37I'll leave it here for a few more minutes.
06:43And I'm focusing all the fire on a single spot.
06:46So we can try to dry it out and make it carbonized enough to go through.
06:55Five minutes later.
06:57I kept it focusing exactly on this part here.
06:59And as you can see, it even made some holes.
07:02Some little holes here.
07:03But the question is, did it go all the way through and reach the cardboard?
07:07Let's see.
07:09I'm going to take it out here.
07:11Man, no way.
07:11Look at the cardboard.
07:12Of course, it's wet here, but it didn't get any burnt marks.
07:15Not even here.
07:16Look.
07:16Not even on the back of the shell.
07:18The most that happened was this part here got a little more yellow.
07:21And remember, if you having any problems with your hair,
07:24click the link below and don't miss this opportunity from Manuel.
07:27Now, I want to hear from you guys.
07:29Which shell surprised you the most in this video?
07:31In my opinion, it was the pineapple one.
07:33I didn't expect that.
07:34So that's right.
07:34Leave your answer in the comments.
07:36And I'll see you in the next video.
07:37Big hug to everyone.
07:38Thanks.
07:39See you.
07:39Take care.
07:40And bye.
