Dangerous heat, flooding and severe storms continue this weekend before a major pattern change arrives

The same stagnant weather pattern that has dominated much of the country this week remains firmly in place through the weekend, allowing storm systems to repeatedly track over many of the same locations. That has already dumped excessive rainfall across parts of the Midwest and Ohio Valley, leaving rivers elevated, soils saturated and communities increasingly vulnerable to additional flooding.
