00:00Army. The U.S. Army is the oldest branch of the U.S. military. Its origins go back to the
00:05Continental Army, which was formed on June 14, 1775, to fight the British during the American
00:11Revolutionary War. After the war ended, the Continental Army was disbanded, and the United
00:15States Army was officially established on June 3, 1784. The Army is the nation's land warfare
00:21branch. Its mission is to defend the United States, protect American territory, and support
00:26national security objectives. It is also the largest branch of the U.S. military, with around
00:30one million soldiers. Army training is known for being extremely demanding, and every recruit must
00:36complete 10 weeks of basic combat training. The Army is made up of three components. Regular Army,
00:41full-time soldiers who are always on active duty and ready to respond at a moment's notice.
00:46Army Reserve, Army National Guard. These two components serve part-time while maintaining
00:51civilian careers. They primarily support the Army in areas such as medical, legal, engineering,
00:56and logistics, and can be called to serve whenever needed.
