00:01DAP Deputy Secretary-General Ram Karpal Singh has called for party delegates to be allowed to revisit any decision to
00:08remain in the Cabinet.
00:10His call comes ahead of DAP's Special Congress this Sunday, where delegates will vote by secret ballot on whether the
00:17party should remain in or withdraw from government posts.
00:21In a statement, Ram Karpal said there should be some flexibility if red lines are crossed in the future.
00:28He cited UMNO's insistence on seeking a pardon for former Prime Minister Najib Razak as one example of such a
00:35red line.
00:35Ram Karpal warned against creating the impression that a vote to remain in government meant DAP must stay no matter
00:43what.
00:43For him, delegates should be free to revisit the decision if future events prove detrimental to the party's interests.
00:51Perak DAP had on Wednesday unanimously backed remaining in the UNT government, saying this would allow the party to deliver
00:59on its election promises.
01:01Former Bangi MP Ong Kian Ming had also listed three reasons for delegates to vote remaining in the Cabinet, including
01:08ensuring the passage of the 2027 Budget in October.
01:11However, Ong said the strongest reason to vote for DAP leaders to resign would be to pressure Prime Minister Anwar
01:18Ibrahim into delivering political reforms before the next general election.
