00:22Fidel still lived alive, is alive here,
00:26as thousands of men and women of different backgrounds
00:31that dedicated their lives to the life,
00:34to defend a better world for all of us.
00:37Today marks the century of a rebel, of a fighter,
00:41a just man from Cuba, Africa, Asia, Latin America,
00:46and the Caribbean, a man that fought for a just humanity.
00:56More than 1,500 participants from 63 countries,
01:03together with 500 Cubans,
01:05were present during the first international collection,
01:09marking the 100th years of Fidel.
01:14There were thousands that were not able to arrive
01:17and to participate, and hundreds of Cubans
01:20that were not able to participate.
01:22But organizers must share the presentations
01:31and their contributions to those
01:33that were not able to attempt.
01:38Because they were leaders who have studied Commander-in-Chiefs
01:42throughout the years, it is important to know
01:45what are the questions, doubts, demands of information
01:49brought by national and international participants
01:52to this colloquium, especially the youth,
01:55the Fidel Castro-centered and the ideological department
02:00of the party representatives and responsible
02:03of the colloquium.
02:05Under the hardships that the country is going through,
02:08they deserve our recognition and congratulations.
02:21Likewise, the race of the organizations involved.
02:25We are thankful to all the participants and guests
02:28for their contributions to the legacy that we safeguard,
02:34an institution that honors the life and work
02:38of a historic league in the middle of this
02:43against our people, this Fidel, this institution,
02:48will be remembered as another strive,
02:55an effort for solidarity that you brothers and sisters have had.
03:01You came here from all over the world,
03:04bringing your bags without any conditions to attend this symposium.
03:12We are deeply thankful to all of you.
03:27Cuba is not alone.
03:41We wouldn't commemorate this event alone,
03:45because Fidel doesn't belong to Cuba,
03:48is of all of the revolutionaries of the world
03:52that admire his work and shared his idea.
03:55Fidel belongs to the entire humanity.
04:07To be a follower of Fidel's meaning,
04:11means remaining in the struggling against the empire.
04:18And as we commemorate his life,
04:21we have to come back to defeat those who tried to overturn him
04:29for more than 600 times.
04:32His ideas are back.
04:34And his adversaries must be frightened.
04:37Hundreds, thousands of people from all over the world,
04:40from different backgrounds.
04:42All over the world still have their legacy to alleviate the nostalgia
04:49for his absence that we feel and is part of our emotions,
04:53but also to start new routes in the battle for the future
04:59without treason, without being subjected to the veracity
05:06of the decaying empire.
05:09Of the empire.
05:11Fidel is alive.
05:12Long live Fidel.
05:25Today we commemorate a life dedicated to fight for all the noble causes
05:30of the revolutionaries.
05:31Of course, with passion and commitment since he was a teenager.
05:34We go deeply in the ideals of a historian,
05:39a person that was nurtured from the first universal thought,
05:46that was marked with ethics, moral ground.
05:52He was shielded with all of that.
05:55And now he's a paradigm of the revolutionary for all human beings.
06:01I know you will agree with me.
06:04We will face and have in the future more anniversaries
06:10to commemorate his ideas.
06:20According to what scientists, professors, doctors, artists,
06:28intellectuals, sportsmen and women, combatants, fighters,
06:32diplomatics, parliamentarians, and the youth, I must say,
06:38that we feel Fidel alive in all the spaces of this colloquium.
06:44We saw Fidel in each one of you.
06:48Fidel reborn in the midst of the youth.
06:53As I listened to their speeches,
06:56I saw that most of the youth have a maturity
07:02in spite of the capitalist societies in which they live.
07:08But also, I wanted to highlight their responses
07:12to these difficulties.
07:15They continue defending the revolution
07:17in spite of the risks and threats.
07:20They are facing forthcoming to this event.
07:30I told them that without the youth,
07:33it wouldn't make sense to have the colloquium
07:37because it's the youth that must understand
07:40the humanist and revolutionary legacy of Fidel.
07:43It is Fidel who said,
07:45you will face long battles.
07:51The future is full of tasks.
07:55It's full of struggles that require awareness
08:00and a revolutionary spirit.
08:12As I was talking to you, I was thinking of Fidel,
08:17always close to the youth.
08:20According to his own experience,
08:22he knew that the youth is the most revolutionary stage of life.
08:27I was thinking of Fidel as a student,
08:32who also was interested in social sciences
08:35and who always recognized
08:37that he became a revolutionary in the university.
08:40I was thinking of the young Fidel in Cayo Conquitas
08:44to be another soldier against the destructiveness
08:48that was affecting the Dominican Republic.
08:54I was also thinking of Fidel that met Gaitan
08:58and experienced the Bogotasa.
09:01I was also thinking of Fidel as a militant
09:04that took up journalism
09:06and the one that took armed struggle
09:11when there were no constitutional ways
09:17to achieve our goals.
09:29You are not alone.
09:31Today we also honor those friends
09:34that have dedicated their lives
09:36to the cause and defense of Cuba.
09:39The youth might recognize in them their experience
09:43and admire their dedication to the struggle.
09:46The international movements for Cuba
09:48and the just causes has names and last names
09:52of men and women that work tirelessly all over the world.
09:56It is urgent to articulate and join all these forces
09:59and to bring all these progressive ideas without fear,
10:05because that's what the enemies of the peoples want to stop us.
10:11As mobilization means salvation.
10:16The emergence of fascism in the world,
10:18it's imposing an ideological war in the world
10:21that insists in shielding capitalism as its destiny.
10:27And they try to erase the historical memory
10:33and they want to colonize us culturally
10:36and to break our identities.
10:39At the same time, they wage a media war
10:44with misinformation campaigns
10:47against the most elemental human values
10:53so as to justify wars and aggressions
10:56that go against international law,
11:00such as the genocide in Gaza, the aggression in Iran,
11:03or the energy siege against Cuba.
11:11Brothers and sisters,
11:15ten years ago on August 12, 2016,
11:22Fidel published Reflections.
11:28In that text that I would like you to read,
11:39it's alive now more than ever,
11:43because it shows a memory of a man
11:46that was remembering his early years,
11:51the form in which he learned to love nature.
11:58He was learning about history of his homeland.
12:03We also find a Fidel with infinite curiosity
12:08who was always thinking about the advancement of science.
12:15And another Fidel that was always critical
12:20of the powerful neighbor.
12:29When the American fascist regime
12:33attacked our people,
12:35preventing from all manners
12:40the well-being of our Cubans,
12:43Fidel showed the key to fight against this.
12:49We also learned from them that we should safeguard independence,
12:56revolution, and values and victories of socialism.
13:13Under that premise,
13:15we started a process of social and economic transformations
13:19with a priority being the well-being of the people
13:22and social justice that he defended so much.
13:26Dear friends and brothers,
13:28as I said at the beginning of the colloquium,
13:30the presence of many people in this Cuba
13:33that is underseached by the empire,
13:37to prevent the examples to be a best example
13:43for all over the world,
13:44that's the time to commemorate the memory of Fidel Castro Ruth
13:48in the first centenary.
13:58You are the complementary force of the Cuban people,
14:04forged by what was defined as the permanent thinking of Fidel.
14:09and I quote,
14:10that the man is able to overcome the most difficult conditions
14:16if he assesses the situation correctly
14:20and continues working with their principles,
14:27novel and just principles.

14:31I'm thankful to you for being here,
14:35to be part of the commemoration.
14:38Fidel is present in every healthcare doctor
14:43that is saving a life,
14:47and even when they don't have the means, the medications.
14:52Fidel is also present in the teachers
14:54that don't abandon the classrooms in the cities,
15:00or the mountains.
15:03Fidel is present in every worker
15:05that in spite of the blockade,
15:07they go to the work post every day
15:09in every combatant that is willing to give up their lives
15:14on behalf of their homeland and socialism.
15:24When historians of the future look back on time,
15:28looking for Fidel Castro Ruz commander-in-chiefs,
15:32they won't see just a man.
15:35They will see a people, their people,
15:39and millions that are inspired on his life,
15:43earned a place in history,
15:46facing without defeating the empire,
15:50and overcoming the empire.
16:15long live Fidel forever,
16:19long live Cuba,
16:22free, sovereign, and independent,
16:25long live socialism,
16:27long live Fidel,
16:31homeland or death,
16:33we will conquer and prevail.
