00:00G'day guys, welcome back to another video. So you might have seen the title and thought to yourself, wait, what?
00:06You're no longer using Safety Wing Nomad Insurance? Is it because it's bad all of a sudden?
00:13Well, here's the thing. It's not that Safety Wing Nomad Insurance is bad or anything like that,
00:19but we've recently made a big switch that's made our travels even safer, more comprehensive, and a whole lot easier.
00:27So let's talk about why we no longer use Safety Wing Nomad Insurance and what we've switched to instead.
00:34Now, don't get me wrong. Safety Wing Nomad Insurance was great for a long time.
00:38It helped us through some of the roughest patches while traveling.
00:43But as our needs evolved, we realized it just wasn't enough anymore.
00:47Obviously, the biggest reason was that we wanted to have a baby here in Thailand, and Nomad Insurance didn't cover
00:54that.
00:54And also, what happens when you need something more substantial, like health insurance that covers ongoing conditions and unforeseen circumstances.
01:03So last year, after a lot of consideration, we realized that Nomad Insurance didn't quite offer the level of coverage
01:10we were looking for in the long term,
01:12specifically in regards to the health side.
01:15Like, if anything went wrong with Mandy's pregnancy or the baby, God forbid, we wanted to be covered 100%.
01:22So that's why we've switched to Safety Wing Nomad Health, which has actually been recently relabeled as Safety Wing Nomad
01:30Complete.
01:31Now, I know this might sound a little confusing, but I'll break it all down for you in just a
01:36minute.
01:36But before I do, just a quick disclaimer.
01:39We've been affiliates of Safety Wing pretty much since we started traveling three years ago and creating content.
01:45However, we are paying customers like everybody else, and they have gotten us through some of the toughest times while
01:53traveling,
01:54such as the obvious one, which was Mandy's pregnancy and birth.
01:58When we both got dengue fever in Bali, when Mandy got a parasite in the Philippines.
02:04She also lost her luggage flying here to Thailand.
02:07And I got an infection in Mexico.
02:09So, yeah, I can safely say that Safety Wing has quite literally been a lifesaver for us.
02:15So the biggest difference with Safety Wing Nomad Complete is it's not just travel insurance.
02:20It's a fully-fledged health insurance that covers everything from unexpected medical issues to long-term care,
02:27whether it's an emergency or something that requires ongoing treatment.
02:32Nomad Complete has us covered.
02:34One of the biggest perks of Nomad Complete is the U.S. $1.5 million coverage limit.
02:40That's right, $1.5 million.
02:44Let's take a deep dive and look at the two side by side.
02:47Okay, so if you go into the Safety Wing website here, you will see there's basically two options for the
02:53Nomad Insurance,
02:54which is Essential and Complete.
02:57Essential is the old Safety Wing Nomad Insurance,
03:00and Complete is basically what used to be Nomad Health,
03:04which is what we've been on for a couple of years now.
03:07So the biggest difference is that, as you can see,
03:10Safety Wing Essential is designed for unforeseen illnesses or accidents,
03:15whereas Complete is for unforeseen illnesses or accidents,
03:18plus ongoing care for covered conditions that appear after the coverage starts.
03:24The overall coverage limit for Essential is $250,000, whereas Complete is $1.5 million.
03:31Essential is covered in 180-plus countries, whereas Complete is 170 countries.
03:37Coverage at home, this is a massive one.
03:39Essential only covers you up to 30 days for every 90 days of coverage when you're back home.
03:45So in other words, if you're going home regularly, you're not going to be covered,
03:48whereas Complete actually fully covers you when you're at home,
03:52which is great because we're planning a trip back to Australia at the end of the year.
03:56We're also planning on spending this Christmas in Canada,
03:59so we're going to be completely covered while we're away.
04:02As for the health coverage, both of them offer medical treatment and hospitalization,
04:06medical evacuation up to $100,000.
04:09However, Nomad Complete also offers screenings and vaccines up to $350,
04:17mental health care up to $5,000,
04:20wellness therapies like acupuncture, physiotherapy, and chiropractic, for example,
04:26which we've actually both been using up to $5,000,
04:30injuries from sports and activities.
04:33The Nomad Complete offers coverage for injuries from sports and activities
04:37for pretty much everything you do.
04:39So like for instance, I do Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and I'm covered if I get injured doing that.
04:44With Nomad Essential, I may not be covered doing certain things
04:48because it's kind of considered I'm doing it at my own risk.
04:52This is more of a fully-fledged health insurance, like I mentioned.
04:55For motor accidents, Essential offers coverage.
04:59However, Adventure add-on required for motorbike coverage,
05:03whereas all motor vehicles are included in the complete package.
05:07And for maternity, it's not covered at all in the essential plan.
05:12Neither is cancer or pre-existing conditions.
05:15However, they're all covered incomplete,
05:17which is obviously one of the massive reasons why we got it.
05:21So now that you've seen the differences,
05:23whether it's an unexpected accident or a sudden illness,
05:26we know that we're covered and that peace of mind has been absolutely priceless for us,
05:32even though we've been spending a little bit more on insurance.
05:34But here's where things really get interesting.
05:36With Nomad Complete, we get ongoing coverage for new conditions.
05:41If anything new comes up, whether it's a random injury or something unexpected,
05:46we're not left scrambling to figure out how we're going to handle it.
05:50But Nomad Complete has us covered for long-term care, doctor visits and more.
05:55So we really have 100% peace of mind.
05:58As I said, we also love the fact that we're covered when we return back home.
06:02A lot of insurance plans don't cover you when you're back in your home country.
06:06But with Nomad Complete, we can visit family, go home for a while
06:10and still have health insurance with absolutely zero problems.
06:14So why did we make the switch?
06:16Because we wanted a comprehensive global health insurance that fits our lifestyle
06:21as digital nomads, frequent travellers and a young family now.
06:25But if you're a budget backpacker or digital nomad, don't get me wrong.
06:29Nomad Essential is still the best option for you if you're on a budget.

06:37knowing that we're covered no matter where we go,
06:40where we're visiting, remote destinations or spending time back home,
06:44we're protected and that is invaluable to us.
