00:00So hi, I'm here with Mark Baines, Mr. Baines, head of All Hallows School and Sixth Form College.
00:06So how are you feeling today about the results?
00:09I'm delighted. I'm really proud of the achievements of our students.
00:12They've done incredibly well.
00:13And to see them, most students have just left now, but to see them open the envelopes
00:17and celebrating their achievements for the past two, seven years,
00:21some of the students have been with us, it's been absolutely incredible.
00:24And we look forward to seeing where they're going to go to for the rest of their lives.
00:26Have you seen any changes in trends of where people are wanting to go
00:31because of the cost of being a student, or you've seen people going more locally,
00:36or still people happy to head off to Durham and Glasgow and all over the place?
00:42I wouldn't say, I don't think we've seen a seismic shift in between.
00:45I do think there has been an increase, and I think it's been quite,
00:47that's been happening over a period of time with more students choosing local universities.
00:51And I think we are blessed in this area to have great universities like University of Surrey,
00:54University of Winchester, UCA and Farnham have great universities on our doorstep.
00:59So there is also a great local offer, and I think perhaps people are much more aware
01:03of the cost of the university.
01:04It's far more expensive for a student to go to university now than it was, say,
01:07when I went to university.
01:09Yeah, yes.
01:09Well, it wouldn't have been very long ago, obviously.
01:12So, and are there changes in subjects, anyone's, have you seen any shift towards more technology
01:20or more arts, more creative, more science-based?
01:25We haven't, you know, we're very proud of our kind of breadth of offer we have at the A-levels,
01:31over 30 A-levels, BTEC qualifications.
01:34So our students still go on to study from a wide range of universities and a wide range of courses.
01:40Fantastic.
01:41So you're very pleased with this year and looking forward to next year's lot, I'm sure.
01:47Absolutely, yeah.
01:48So we welcome our Year 11 students next week for their GCSE results.
01:52And we'd be delighted to have 100 applications from students who don't attend All Hallows
01:55who are potentially looking to join us for the sixth form in September.
