'I'd love to run, but the law is very strong' — Trump on running for third term

US President Donald Trump says on Aug. 11, 2026 that the law 'is very strong' regarding the two term limit for presidents established in the US Constitution. After disembarking from Air Force One at Joint Base Andrews, Trump was asked if he was serious about running in 2028. The 22nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution states that 'no person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once.'
