Algeria has delivered four military helicopters to Niger as part of a new cooperation package aimed at strengthening the capabilities of the Nigerien Armed Forces. The batch consists of two Mi-24V helicopters and two Mi-171s.
The transfer was reportedly carried out as military assistance at no cost to the Nigerien government. In addition to the four aircraft, the package includes spare parts, maintenance equipment and supplies to support the operation of the new fleet.
According to information released about the operation, the helicopters departed on August 9 from the In Guezzam region in Algeria’s far south, near the border with Niger, before continuing on to Niamey.
