A mum was left speechless after discovering her young son covered head to toe in bright pink birthday cake frosting following a messy kitchen adventure.

Teneil Hunter filmed the hilarious aftermath at her home in Virginia after finding her son smiling with pink frosting smeared across his face, arms and clothes.

When asked what had happened, the toddler proudly told his mum that he had "turned pink" before the camera revealed the trail of destruction, with strawberry frosting spread across the birthday cake, table, wall, chair and other nearby surfaces.

Teneil later explained that they had baked the birthday cake together the day before, but her son decided it needed a sequel by dipping his Lightning McQueen toy into the pink icing and driving it around the house. She shared the clip online while asking fellow parents for their best tips on removing strawberry frosting from fabric.
