00:00Indian billionaire Gautam Adani has won the dismissal of U.S. securities fraud charges
00:05ending a high-profile case that threatened the global expansion of his conglomerate.
00:09Adani said on social media that he welcomed the U.S. court's decision.
00:14The U.S. had alleged that Adani was part of a scheme to pay more than $250 million
00:19in bribes to Indian government officials to secure solar energy contracts.
00:25Adani has consistently denied those allegations.
00:27And this week, a U.S. district judge dismissed conspiracy, securities and wire fraud charges
00:33against Adani and his nephew Sagar.
00:35The dismissal comes alongside settlements that effectively bring Adani's U.S. legal troubles to an end,
00:42including a $275 million settlement by Adani Enterprises over a separate U.S. Treasury probe
00:48related to Iran's sanctions violations.
00:51The decisions followed months of behind-the-scenes negotiations.
00:54Adani's representatives hired lawyers and U.S. lobbies to fight the case
01:00while his younger son, Jeet, was also involved in those efforts.
01:04Jeet met up Donald Trump Jr. at Mar-a-Lago last year,
01:08though people familiar with the meeting say the Justice Department case was not discussed.
01:13With those U.S. legal others behind him,
01:16the path is now clearer for Adani to pursue an expansion of his businesses and investments in the U.S.
