00:08In January of 2021, Fauci sent a text to then-CDC Director Rochelle Walensky and Surgeon General Vivek Murthy about
00:16a theoretical concern involving pregnant women.
00:19Fauci wrote that because some people experienced strong immune responses and fevers after their second dose, it, quote, theoretically could
00:28be associated with miscarriage in the first trimester.
00:32Walensky responded that it was, quote, definitely a good point.
00:35But just days later, Fauci said publicly that regulators had found, in his words, no red flags involving pregnant women,
00:41while cautioning that the data was still developing at the time.
00:44Months later, he publicly recommended vaccination during pregnancy, citing data that had finally come in from tens of thousands of
00:52women that he said showed no increase in adverse outcomes.
00:55The private messages were among more than 34,000 texts and 500 voicemails recently obtained from Fauci's government-issued phone
01:01by the Senate Homeland Security Committee.
01:04Republican Senators Rand Paul and Ron Johnson are now reviewing those records and say it's still too early to know
01:09whether any data from the phone was deleted.
