00:00You want to be everything that you assume your kids want you to be.
00:04And also at the same time without, so I think probably consciously, but also subconsciously,
00:08you're thinking, do I parent my kid or kids the same way that I was parented as well?
00:16And what can I use that's been really good for my own experiences?
00:21And what can we evolve and what can we improve on?
00:24And I think that's the same for so many dads around the world.
00:30But, you know, that role, that transformation, that transition from being a man into a dad gives you purpose.
00:39And I think in the report, for me, what stands out more than anything else is that purpose,
00:44is the fact that this is a new responsibility.
00:48Yes, I need to be the provider. I need to be the carer.
00:50I need to be all the things that I need to be for my wife, for the mum.
00:54But also now there's an extra human in this.
00:57I think the biggest tip that I was given actually for my therapist in the UK was just be aware
01:04of how you feel once the baby is born.
01:09Because there is this understandable huge excitement when your child comes into this earth.
01:19But then after that, there are hours, days, weeks, for some guys months, certainly for me it lasted a couple
01:26of weeks, where you are wondering what to do.
01:30What can you do?
01:32What can you do?
01:32Because the baby is probably breastfeeding, and you don't feel as though you have much of an active role in
01:38that.
01:39And because I was aware of it, because I was warned about it, that helped me massively.
01:44Because I was like, okay, if I can't help him, then I'm going to help my wife.
01:49I'm going to help mum, and I'm going to constantly just over offer.
01:52I am going to help.
01:53I'm going to help.
01:53I have no idea.
