00:17Now I'm confused.
00:18Well, Tom Brittney's directing.
00:20Oh, God. Well, nobody took me.
00:22It's a bloody outrage.
00:23Who's he think he is? Peter Jackson?
00:25Brittney, where are you?
00:27Gonna get my agent on the phone.
00:29A lot of the directors we bring onto Grand Chester,
00:32of course, seasoned professionals, incredibly experienced.
00:35But we've got one director.
00:37I checked out his CV.
00:39There was nothing on it. It was just a blank page.
00:41Yeah, a guy called Tom Brittney.
00:42Shoot it. I love it.
00:46He's fantastic.
00:47And all of us, I think I can say, loved working with him.
00:51I had to prove to the actors that I could do it.
00:54I had to prove to them that I'd done my homework.
00:56You know, and everyone's kind of, because we've all done it for so long,
00:59I think everyone was there to support him.
01:01I was there for Tom's first directing day.
01:03What's up mate? Let's go for one more.
01:04And I just didn't look him in the eye, didn't take a single note.
01:07I said no to everything he suggested.
01:09And it went fine.
01:09Yeah, plenty of ribbing, which can be frustrating.
01:12I'm not going to lie when I say the power has gone to his head.
01:15But he's dealt with it well.
01:17Listen, I've just had enough of you.
01:19No, just not on my set. Not on my set.
01:22To come onto a set like this, a prime time drama, and just step off the cliff,
01:28is a real kind of, you know, ballsy act.
01:32You wicked, wicked boy.
01:34Mrs. C, that's enough.
01:35What was really nice was working with him on set as the actor,
01:38and then at the same time him nipping then behind the camera to have a look,
01:41and then coming back again.
01:42It was really exciting.
01:43And he's very, very good at it.
01:45Cut.
01:47Oh, it's great.
01:48Whether I'm an actor or now being on the other side of it is,
01:51you always want the set to be fun.
01:53Professionally fun.
01:54We sometimes push that boundary a little bit.
01:57And the rest of us.
01:58Are you shoving me off?
01:59Yeah.

02:00Oh, sorry.
02:01But we have fun, and it was really important for me,
02:05because I think you're the most creative when you're enjoying it.
