00:00Hi, I'm Davina and I thought I'd give you some tips on how to kind of get yourself out of
00:08the
00:09doldrums a bit if you're having a bit of crisis of confidence. It's always a bit hard isn't it
00:13to pick yourself up again. So the first thing that I would do is get outside. Put your tunes in,
00:20get some music going and walk. Just go somewhere, do something even if it's just around the block,
00:27feel some pressure on your face, brisk walk, come back. Even better, this is taking it one step
00:34further, is exercise. Go to a class, sign up for something. Don't be frightened of the gym or
00:41classes. Everybody had to start somewhere. When I'm feeling a bit down, I tend to go for the fluffiest,
00:52furriest, you know, like fleeciest, softest, comfiest, most unflattering outfit I can find
01:00with a massive pair of slippers. And actually I don't think that helps my state of mind. So what
01:05you need to do is you need to get up and you need to get those skinny jeans. Get those
01:10skinny jeans,
01:11put it on. Wear, get the slightly tight fitting jumper, but just do something to make yourself
01:15feel a bit sassy. Little secret, I may get into trouble for this, like somebody's going to look
01:21at me over there like, oh my God, what's she going to say? But anyway, a little secret is I
01:27always wear
01:27matching underwear, always, literally come rain or shine. And I don't do it for you and I don't do it
01:34for you and I don't do it for you and I certainly don't do it for you too. I do
01:38it for me. And do you
01:40know why? Because I know I'm wearing it and you don't know I'm wearing it. Well, you do now because
01:45you're watching this, but it makes me feel sassy. I'm like that. Yeah, I've got nice undies on. Yeah.
01:52Okay. What are you going to do about that? And I think if I feel sassy, I deliver sassy. I
01:58wouldn't
01:58say faking things is a great thing to do, but faking being happy is amazing because do you know what
02:04happens after a while? And I tell my children to do this sometimes if they don't want to go to
02:08school
02:09one day because it's the end of the holidays and they've got to go back to school. I just say
02:12fake feeling happy and by the end of the day, you will actually feel happy. And it works. And I'm
02:19telling you, if you're smiling at people and everything and people start smiling back and
02:22you're like, oh, this is quite nice, this faking happy malarkey. I'm going to stay happy. I love it.
02:28And another tip is write a gratitude list. Have an attitude of gratitude, right? You want to write
02:34down three things that you're grateful for every morning or every evening. And it doesn't have to
02:39be an enormous, I don't know, weighty tome of gratitude. It's just three little things that
02:45you're grateful for. And you'll look at it and you'll go, actually, I was grateful for that little
02:49smile that the teacher gave me when I dropped off my son at school. Or, oh God, I was really
02:54grateful
02:54for that nice breakfast that I got at that cafe. Or I found a pound on the floor. I was
03:02grateful
03:03for that. It doesn't have to be something massive, but just it helps foster something
03:08where even on the dark days, you think actually good things are happening to me and I must notice
03:11what they are.
