00:00Hi, everyone. I'm Michelle, otherwise known as Marian Robinson's daughter.
00:06And this Mother's Day, I want to tell you a little bit more about my mom.
00:11Growing up with my mom was always an adventure.
00:15It was trips to the library as a toddler to learn about ABCs.
00:19It was the entire family piling into our car to go to the local drive-in.
00:24Mom inviting family over for New Year's Eve, passing around her special hors d'oeuvres, and toasting in the new
00:33year.
00:33But above all else, my mother gave me that non-stop, unconditional love that was so important for me to
00:43grow up.
00:44In so many ways, she fostered in me a deep sense of confidence in who I was and who I
00:52could be
00:53by teaching me how to think for myself, how to use my own voice, and how to understand my own
01:01worth.
01:02I simply wouldn't be who I am today without my mom.
01:07And that is why this Mother's Day, I am so excited to announce that we will be dedicating a space
01:15at the Obama Presidential Center in her honor.
01:19It's an exhibit called Opening the White House.
01:23And it's infused with so many of the values that my mother instilled in me.
01:29Community.
01:31Family.
01:32Bringing people in.
01:34Creating a warm, welcoming space where everyone feels at home.
01:38The exhibit will feature a scale replica of the East Room, where we held big dinners.
01:47Replicas of the Blue Room, where we decorated a huge Christmas tree for the holidays.
01:53And also a replica of the South Lawn, where we hosted garden tours and Easter egg rolls.
02:00We did state arrivals and so much more.
02:03This is just one part of the story we're telling at the Obama Presidential Center.
02:09And in the years ahead, we want to welcome you to Chicago to see it as well.
02:16Maybe even with your mom.
02:18So, happy Mother's Day, everyone.
02:20And especially to you, Mommy.
02:23Love you.
02:24Love you.
02:27Love you.
