00:04Hello, I'm here with the UK's leading food artist, Prudence State, and we're going to be making an alternative to
00:10mince pies, festive reindeer. Aren't they cute?
00:14We're going to show you in some simple steps how easy and fun these are to make. Not only do
00:19they look great, but they are an excellent way of getting whole grain into the family this Christmas.
00:24So first of all, we need to get our ingredients. So here I've got 300 grams of Curiously Cinnamon, 125
00:30grams of butter, 150 mils of condensed milk, 100 grams of dark chocolate.
00:36You can use a bar and break it into pieces, but I've got some buttons here. I've also got 20
00:40grams of Nesquik, 12 raspberries, and 24 currants.
00:44First of all, we need to crush the cereal. Pop them in there. So if you want to crush them,
00:51hit them over here. Harder.
00:54And I think that's perfect. So to make them sort of bind together, we need to melt the butter with
01:00the condensed milk in a microwave.
01:02Okay, here we go. Messy bits. Yep, we just need to melt that on a moderate temperature in the microwave,
01:07like 30 second blasts.
01:10Here we are. It's all nice and melted. So if you just want to give that a good stir to
01:13the cereal.
01:14Oh, look at that. That's it. Smells amazing. Great.
01:18We need to give it a good old stir. Okay.
01:21We just need to make sure it's fully coated. And now that's ready to start making our food sculptures.
01:26We just take spoonfuls of the mixture and using a knife just sort of pat it down.
01:33What we're doing is we're making the spoon shape. It's like the raised part of the head.
01:37And we just need to slide it on up there. You can use a knife just to ease it out
01:42there.
01:43So down there. Onto there. And just make sure you've got that point there.
01:48So these are looking really good. Just need to pop them in the fridge for about an hour to set.
01:52Great. In a microwavable bowl, if you want to put the dark chocolate into there.
01:56Okay. We just need to pop that in the microwave to get it nice and melted. About a 30 second
02:03blast.
02:03Okay. So I'll go and do that now. Right. Okay.
02:06While the heads are setting, we can make the antlers. So if you hold that, I'll just pour this into
02:11the piping bag.
02:14Smells fantastic, isn't it? Look, we're going to get messy. Getting messy.
02:18So on the gritty paper, if you just pipe a shape like that.
02:24Tell. Sound all right?
02:26Yeah. Perfect.
02:27While the chocolate's still wet, we need to attach the Nesquik.
02:31And just start from the top and just push them into the chocolate.
02:36Look at that.
02:37So that's it. So they now need to go in the fridge just to firm up, which takes a couple
02:40of minutes.
02:41Okay.
02:41So I'll just go and pop those in.
02:44Not bad.
02:45So now we've got all our final pieces ready to be assembled.
02:47Okay.
02:48So I'm going to choose a nice hint.
02:51And just pipe a good dollop of chocolate on there.
02:55And just position that one there.
02:58It all makes sense.
03:00And then to do the eyes, a little blob of chocolate there.
03:04And two currants.
03:06So nice sort of round ones are really good.
03:08You just push them on like that.
03:11So all he needs now is a nose.
03:12Yep.
03:13So a bigger blob of chocolate.
03:15And to make the nose, you could use a raspberry or a cranberry.
03:19Yep.
03:19Very festive.
03:20Right.
03:20Shall I attempt to do one of those?
03:21Yep.
03:22I think you should.
03:22Shall we?
03:23Okay.
03:23Move him.
03:24Select a nice head or antlers.
03:27Head or antlers.
03:28I'm going to go with this little head.
03:30Stick.
03:31Here we go.
03:32You'll be fine.
03:34It's like watching a child do it.
03:35Yeah, squeeze on there.
03:35A little squeeze of chocolate.
03:37Eyes.
03:38Yep.
03:38Nice round currant.
03:40Yep.
03:41And one.
03:42Nice big net.
03:43So beautiful.
03:45And there you have it.
03:46Your very own festive edible reindeer made with guaranteed whole grain.
03:50And I hope you have as much fun making those with your kids as I've had today.
03:54Thank you so much, Prudence.
03:55And Merry Christmas.
03:56What's that?
03:57Shumbaguga.
03:58Baguga.
03:59Shumbaguga.
04:00Oh, yeah.
04:02Baguga.
04:03Baguga.
04:03Baguga.
04:03Baguga.
