00:04Tell us about Grand Hotel. What did you think about it whenever you read the script?
00:08I loved it. I loved it. I was like, oh my God, I can do something very special with this.
00:12And I like the idea that the concept is the same, but this is a brand new take on Grand
00:18Hotel.
00:18Yeah, this role was made for you. It really was. We actually wrote it for Ross.
00:22But it was like made for you, the role of Gigi. Do you not love her?
00:26Love her. Love her. I love her. I discover her every single episode, like new things.
00:32Yeah. And she's fierce. And she's fabulous.
00:35And she's unapologetic. And she's unapologetic. And she's complicated. And she's a wonderful mother.
00:39But then again, she has weird motives behind everything. And it's awesome.
00:44What is your favorite thing about Gigi? And do you guys share any characteristics?
00:50There's always something that you bring to the table as a person to every character.
00:53So I'm going to lie to you if I say, oh, Gigi has nothing to do with me.
00:56Have you stolen anything from Gigi into your life?
00:59Because Gigi is all about family.
01:01Yeah.
01:01And Gigi will kill anybody for her family.
01:03Yeah. So would Ross.
01:05I will do. Yeah. Yes. Yes. I will too. 100%. 100%. I'll be like, I'll do jail time. I don't
01:10care.
01:11Yes. Yes.
01:13But Gigi has a lot of secrets and a lot of motives.
01:16A lot of motives, yeah.
01:17That I've never had to experience.
01:19It's probably going to be one of the only shows with an all-Latino cast, almost an all-Latino cast,
01:24but also one of the only shows where it's an upstairs-downstairs show, but the upstairs are the Latinos.
01:30It looked like a very educated Latino family doing well, super united as a front, you know, like as a
01:37family.
01:38It was just a realization for me to be like, this is happening.
01:41This is happening. Yeah, that's right.
01:42There's a bit of a change in the roles that we've traditionally played.
01:46How was this experience different in this particular project?
01:50Because I know for me, like even directing, when I'm yelling at you from behind the camera in Spanish
01:54and nobody else knows what we're saying, it was beautiful.
01:58It was amazing.
01:58Do you know what I mean?
01:59To go like...
02:00They don't know.
02:01Yeah, I wish they only knew what we were saying.
02:03Exactly.
02:03That's what happens when you're not bilingual.
02:05Sorry.
02:06You miss out.
02:08It was a different experience for me to direct Latinos, and so for you, how was that experience?
02:13With Demian as your co-star, with, you know, your children, I mean, all of it.
02:17It was great.
02:19I was just very proud to be there.
02:21And like you said, I was comfortable talking my first language with my cast members,
02:26because most of them did speak Spanish.
02:28How was it working with Demian?
02:30Demian, which he brought substance, and he grounded the entire show.
02:35You know, because the show is visually beautiful.
02:38Everybody's so beautiful.
02:39The costumes are beautiful.
02:40It's Miami.
02:41For him, it was important to, okay, we're going to bring the audience all that,
02:44but at the end of the day, it's about the acting, and it's about taking people through a journey of
02:48truth.
02:49The cast is very young, you know, and it's funny,
02:51like it's the first time that I'm like, I'm the oldest one.
02:53I felt like a grandmother.
02:57We say veteran, Roz.
02:58We say veteran.
02:59With a veteran.
03:00It's as simple as like the kids, like they became a clique.
03:02They became a family.
03:03So they're like going to dinner.
03:04They're going to Coachella.
03:05I know.
03:06Me and Demian are like, we didn't get involved.
03:10He's like, man, I'm not going to go, but I want to be invited.
03:15I'm not going to go, but I'm not going to go, but I'm not going to go, but I'm not
03:17going to go, but I'm not going to go, but I'm not going to go, and he was very specific
03:19about, you know, about like, guys, it's about truth, so it doesn't matter what's written, just find the truth about
03:26that.
03:27So it kept everything very, it was almost like a responsibility.
