00:00From September, rules in England will limit the number of branded uniform items parents
00:06can be required to buy. Most schools will be able to require no more than three branded
00:11items such as a blazer, jumper or PE kit. Secondary and middle schools can require a
00:17fourth item if it's a tie. The government says the change could save families up to
00:22£50 per child by allowing uniform to be bought from cheaper retailers. But school leaders
00:29have questioned how much families will save while suppliers face uncertainty over
00:34demand. Schools must comply with the new rules from the 1st of September with
00:39guidance stressing affordability and second-hand options.
