00:00Who makes the toughest engine? Toyota, Land Rover or Mercedes? Well, we're going to find out by
00:05thrashing them until they die. Fire! Fire! Did some just break my car?
00:13Stop! Stop! Which one will last the longest?
00:19I've already put these cars through hell on the toughest off-road course I've ever attempted,
00:24and at this point, none of them could be economically repaired or put back on the road.
00:28This is their last chance to go out in a blaze of glory.
00:31So what we've done is tethered each of these cars to this huge pole, and so what we're going to
00:36do
00:36is jump in them, start their engines, put them in gear, make sure the traction control is off if
00:40it's still even working, and then we're going to thrash them and keep on thrashing them until
00:43something breaks. So if the first thing that breaks is to do with the transmission, what we'll do then
00:47is put them into neutral and just hammer the throttle and keep the engine on the red line
00:52to see how long it can live for. The car that dies last wins. It's as simple as that.
00:57Okay, guys, can you start your engines? Drivers, take up the strain. Go!

07:47it's been written off dodgy car vertical report yeah perfect the discovery lasted way longer than
07:52i thought and it had some serious abuse surprising the toyota not even turning its wheels yeah i think
07:58that gearbox is worse than we thought there's different layers of smell isn't there from it
08:03yeah it's got a coffee flavor to that as well actually i don't really want to breathe too much
08:09of that in i feel like we need more revs from that toyota because it's just cheating

09:14the wheels so it was just straining against that torque converter the whole time that's maximum load on

13:28so rather than risk it we hitched the land cruiser to our rescue vehicle so they could try to pull

13:33free instead but this meant my way out was completely blocked if i wanted to tow sam's
13:37stricken mercedes back to base i'd have to take an even more challenging route

14:45so they moved on to dragging sam's knackered mercedes out of my way which meant i had one final chance

15:30i think all these cars did incredibly well i was amazed by the mercedes's engine to just keep on red
15:37lining like that but overall you can't fault this discovery because it's the only one that can get
15:42itself and the others out of here forget what everyone says about land rover reliability
15:49in this particular instance i've managed to bag myself an absolute belter

16:05question though that mercedes engine was so strong does that mean that mercedes actually builds the
