00:00Why Spain and Portugal are representing both of these cities that you see here?
00:04The border between Spain and Portugal is almost identical to the defined in 1297,
00:10being the oldest geopolitical border in the world after the of Andorre.
00:15But on 18 km, the border is not defined,
00:18and this is because Olivenza was in the Portuguese sovereignty of 1297
00:22until 1801 when Spanish and Spanish troops took the city during the Orange War.
00:28In 1815, during the Viennes Treaty, the Spain promised to bring the city of Olivenza to Portugal,
00:34but it has never been done, even though Spain and Portugal are both part of the EU and the Schengen
00:41space.
00:42Even though the border is practically inexistent,
00:45it always represents a different frontiers,
00:47because Portugal does not recognize the Spanish sovereignty on the territory.
00:51It is one of the rare different frontiers in the Western Europe.
00:56Do you know others in the world?
00:59Do you want to become imbattable in Culture G?
