00:00Imagine needing to make a phone call and suddenly realizing your Verizon phone just won't connect.
00:06That's what thousands of Verizon customers experienced Saturday as reports of a widespread voice service outage started popping up across
00:15the U.S.
00:16The problems began in the afternoon, with customers in places including Chicago and other parts of the country reporting they
00:23couldn't make or receive regular calls.
00:26At one point, outage reports on DownDetector climbed above 12,000.
00:31But here's what made it confusing.
00:33Some customers said their texts and mobile data were still working, even though regular calls weren't.
00:39Verizon acknowledged the issue and said it was affecting voice services in parts of the U.S.
00:45Engineers worked to fix the problem, and later that evening, Verizon said the issue had been resolved.
00:50So, if your Verizon calls suddenly stopped working Saturday, you weren't imagining it.
00:56It was a real network disruption, and thankfully, service has since been restored.
