Ever wondered why GTA 4 didn't have the stealth missions from San Andreas? A former developer explains that the team regretted adding the feature in the first place, seeing it as a development overreach that they corrected in the sequel.

00:00Former Rockstar Technical Director Obey Vermage says that stealth missions was something the
00:05team regretted about GTA San Andreas.
00:08A fan recently asked Vermage about a silenced M9 Beretta pistol found in the files of GTA
00:134, as well as two apparently cut missions featuring scripted stealth mechanics.
00:18The former Rockstar dev explained, I don't know about the two missions, my recollection
00:22is that stealth was specifically one of the things we regretted adding to San Andreas
00:27as we ended up stretching ourselves too thin, so I thought stealth was never pursued in
00:32GTA 4.
00:33Granted, Vermage also said previously that he didn't like GTA 4 that much at launch because
00:38we had to sacrifice so much in terms of gameplay, so while he was probably happy to see the back
00:44of stealth, it may have been something that was cut in pursuit of the game's more realistic
00:48tone compared to San Andreas and 5.
