00:03hello and welcome to another edition of the solo show i am stan solo as always and joining me
00:08today coming back he's been a while since he's been here october 2023 was the last time we sat
00:14down and chatted tom grove all the way from the uk whereabouts in luke uk are you from
00:19um i'm from a city called portsmouth excellent um so we're here to talk about the um yub nub
00:28the forgotten ewok adventures tom is uh directing it uh i was he did it the funding through
00:34kickstarter i was one of the backers just to be clear with this i want to welcome you back to
00:39the
00:39podcast how did the campaign go i mean it it was um it went as well oh i would like
00:50to say it went as
00:51well as i hoped it did it did because we uh reached reached the goal it was set at but
00:56um i was
00:57surprised that that it did reach the goal because this is my first kind of proper feature uh feature
01:05documentary i've made kind of shorts and bits here and there um what's gone on like youtube and stuff
01:13but this is my first proper um feature and first thing to be like i'm really serious about making
01:21documentaries and about kind of this kind of stuff so then i was quite impressed the amount of people
01:28that did kind of back the up and kind of talking about it and going oh what is this i'm
01:34interested
01:34in this even even if they didn't donate they shared and was talking about it online and go and going
01:41oh
01:41what's this i am interested i'll buy a copy or seek out when it does sort of come out somewhere
01:47so
01:48yeah it was nice for people actually to care about it that's good that's good to hear uh i was
01:54more
01:54than happy to contribute for towards this uh i'm so excited for this documentary to come out
01:59um when we talk about yub nub the forgotten ewok adventures can you explain what what are we referring
02:04to um well obviously um star wars fans would know you know yub nub's kind of the thing the little
02:14teddy bears say um like uh famous actor siren peg said return of the jedi muppets in space with the
02:24little teddy bears um but obviously two two york movies what came out sort of after return of the jedi
02:31kind of went straight to tv kind of thing and that they're not like the best thing ever made they're
02:41not the best films ever made but they're but they are they're good and good at what they are
02:48they're really great like kids films but then that's me saying kids films isn't me putting it down
02:55it's they're very good with sort of morals and very kind of i see i feel like they're good at
03:01like
03:02keeping a kids like children's attention more like if if you sat a kid down to watch
03:09the phantom menace he sat a five-year-old a five-year-old down and watch the phantom menace
03:13they're talking about trade disputes and politics and and it's kind of like okay right okay i just
03:20just wait till you see like darth maul and your kid might like a jar jar binks i don't know
03:25you know
03:25just wait to them bits but with the ewok movies is very much in very very easy gateway into
03:32getting really young kids into star wars but then these are the sort of parts of star wars where
03:40people got completely forgotten about them like the holiday special where people kind of forgotten
03:45about them because they weren't that great but the holiday special that was genuinely pretty bad
03:51the ewok films are actually a lot better than the holiday special but i feel like over decades they
03:59those three things holiday special and the two ewok movies kind of being lumped into kind of the
04:05handful of star wars features that's kind of gone into obscurity kind of thing so that's why it's
04:12called the forgotten ewok adventures because if you know them you know them kind of kind of thing
04:19yeah and they're they're available on disney plus you're doing a documentary on them and and if i
04:24recall the way this came about was uh eric was coming to london for a comic convention and you
04:29were going to be going to that convention eric walker who would paid mace to want to the main
04:33character in in the movie or in the tv series i guess they're specials tv specials and and you
04:41reached out to eric and you said hey can i stalk you and and film you while you're at the
04:45comic-con
04:45and and and he said yeah yeah and then as you were guys were we're kind of talking he he
04:53brought up
04:53that he has all this video and and photos and and uh stories to tell and he would really love
05:01to do
05:01a documentary one day and tom goes i'll do a documentary is that am i right yeah but that's
05:08basically it yeah because he kind of um i i found him on facebook i saw he was going to
05:14this convention
05:15called uh london film and comic-con um and i've been to this convention like for years i've been
05:21going to this for like over a decade this specific convention and then i saw he was announced to be
05:27signing there for the weekend and i was like oh uh i'm looking for i've just finished um um a
05:35documentary series on my youtube channel about king kong the history of king kong and everything
05:39and i was kind of like looking for my next kind of avenue of what do i do now kind
05:45of kind of you
05:46finish the project and it's like oh what do what do i do now so and then i saw eric
05:50was there and just
05:51just off by chance i just said um any chance i can kind of interview you and basically what he
05:58said
05:58like stalk you follow you about but over the weekend when you're in your trip to london and he said
06:04yes
06:04and then over the month or so before the convention um i got emails from him um with files and
06:13folders of
06:14all this footage and behind the scenes pictures and everything and i was just amazed that like
06:18all this stuff he's got but then like no one has actually really seen some bits eric's put some bits
06:27and pieces on his youtube channel and facebook and whatever whatever but no it's not like there's a lot
06:32more to it than what he's put on social media already and hopefully this documentary kind of
06:39puts it all together to make it make sense that's so exciting to hear i'm that's what i'm most excited
06:44to see is the behind the scenes footage of the filmmaking process and stuff like that uh so it's
06:502023 uh december 2023 you do the fundraiser for the for the uh uh with a kickstarter you reach your
06:59goal what happened then um well i reached my goal and then i was frantically running about
07:08thinking oh crap what do i do now right it's actually reached the goal and people actually
07:15want to see it now um so i was running about scrambling trying to get all the um bits and
07:22pieces
07:22together to send out to the people who backed the project on kickstarter trying to send them out
07:29on my local post office running back and forth with all these hundreds of boxes sending them to
07:34like canada america australia there's even ones from like mexico and and it was like oh there was even
07:40um ones i said i said to italy i think i believe and i was just amazed that like how
07:47would like the
07:47distance of some of the parcels are going to um the lady who works at the post office hated me
07:53after
07:53that couple those couple weeks because she was like oh he's here again with another 20 boxes i have
07:59she has to go through to make sure that you know um but no yeah and then after i got
08:06through all the
08:06sending stuff out eventually and that's when i kind of started spending some of the money from the
08:15backers on some more of the animation stuff by the uh um group the bunch of guys who's doing this
08:23animation for me for the film um getting some of that done and paying my composer and bits and just
08:31sort of using the money for kind of good use for the film i've seen tiny bits of the animation
08:39um
08:39like when you're interviewing one of the actors or one of the the crew uh i see there's this cute
08:45animation of the ewok kind of shooting an arrow that kind of puts their name on the screen
08:49very professional looking like i uh i think i don't know what you paid for but i believe it was
08:55mighty well spent uh on the animation and and same thing with some of the music i've heard as well
08:59the composer you got is amazing yeah i mean um the the guys who died who did the animation for
09:08this
09:08they're literally amazing um that for the ewoks was the first time i worked with them
09:14so about probably like a year or like about two years ago when i first contacted contacted them
09:22about yub nob doing some stuff but then since then um i about a month last month i released a
09:30short film
09:31and they did some animation for the my short film as well so i've got a good nice relationship with
09:36them now after working with them on ewoks but then like you said um my composer i've i've genuinely like
09:45loved the guy like i've done stuff with him for the past like five or six years now
09:51kind of like every like documentary i've made i've sent him a text going
09:57and he'll do this for me and he just goes yeah fine but because he knows like he knows how
10:05i work and i know how he works and he knows if he wants to get paid for it he
10:11knows i can pay him
10:12and he knows i like the trust is there and and that and that's what i like and that's just
10:18kind of
10:19what i like to do and i think like every single uh documentary i'll make for the foreseeable future
10:27um i'm gonna more or less have the same team with me so the guy to do the animation for
10:32ewoks
10:32will be doing my next film and the guy who did the music for ewoks will do my next film
10:39like
10:40i'll always have the same people from now on excellent excellent um the other thing too that
10:45we were talking about the last time you're on was uh some of the people that you were you were
10:50looking to get i know you didn't want to name a bunch of names um but you were looking to
10:55interview
10:55a lot of the cast and a lot of the crew uh warwick davis was one of the ones that
10:59you were just kind
11:00of like lining up we were waiting for him to have some free time and i the stop motion master
11:05is it
11:06is it phil tippet was that phil tippet yeah yeah yeah so he did the he did the stop motion
11:12uh in
11:12empire strikes back like the ad ads and the tauntauns and stuff like that and he also did some stop
11:17motion in the ewoks series uh yes specials were you able to to sit down with them or or do
11:24an
11:25interview with either one of them or uh no um phil tippet yeah um i got him like surprisingly super
11:33easy okay kind of like i reached out to his team and they just kind of said um yeah okay
11:43um sort of so then and then i have to be like okay yeah time place where when kind of
11:50well sort it out and it was that kind of thing where i said uh whenever phil whenever phil tippet
11:58is free and comfortable to do it then i then i will be because it's like i don't want to
12:03be like oh i
12:04can't do this can't do that i can't do this time because it's it's phil tippet he's like he's a
12:09hollywood legend so it's kind of like i need to sort of get him like you know get him in
12:17the
12:17documentary somehow so you know even if it's like a short five minutes of him somewhere in the film
12:23that'd be perfect but i interviewed him for about an hour and there's a there's a quite a big good
12:30chunk of him throughout the film oh very nice very nice and how about uh warwick were you able to
12:36nail him down that's still a sticky situation with warwick at the moment oh no i haven't yet
12:43okay all right that's um i'll give you this um that that that's one reason why the documentary has
12:52taken longer to do than i originally planned because of i've been trying to sort stuff out with
13:00warwick trying to grab him in trying to hopefully fingers crossed it still could happen by the end
13:07of the year but you know okay uh but you do you do interview um kevin thompson the uh he
13:15was he did
13:15um was it torak or talk i can't remember i don't know he yeah he um a lot of the
13:23stories he said
13:24even from return that return of the jedi to the two ewok movies he was just like he said i
13:31think
13:31of his quote was um it's just kevin changing outfits it's it's the kevin show like it like they
13:38just because he was just so good at like doing the stunts in the suits that they were just like
13:43quick change keep that head on that head looks the same the heads look the same just change
13:50the like the torso just change the suit and then just and then now you've now you've got the
13:57bow and arrow and then you've got just a spear and you've got a rock and just jump jump up
14:02there and
14:02apparently that that that was kind of it for him yeah kevin kevin is an amazing person and he has
14:09a
14:09book i wish i could remember i bought the book actually i'm just trying to remember what the name
14:12of it was oh yes he uh his book he did with his wife wasn't it i think yeah yeah
14:18him and his wife
14:18wrote it together anyways um who else who else are we expected did you were able to uh to interview
14:25um of course um eric walker obviously um nikki patello oh teak yeah yeah um i'm trying to remember
14:38myself um um but um but no um sadly um a handful of the like main cast have kind of
14:56passed on so
14:57like a few of the guys who play some of the ewoks they're either quite old now and not in
15:06the best
15:06kind of way to interview now and or they've passed on so um a lot of the actual ewok
15:16two actors it was tricky to get some more of them in because those reasons but um
15:24karl struken he from the second one and terak the um villain from the second one
15:30second film obviously famous for um uh he was bloke in uh twin peaks
15:39and uh obviously um lurch in um adam's family the 90s 90s one so he's in there he was a
15:48lovely guy
15:48as well but then um quite a lot of it is um what i what i figured out while making
15:54it was
15:55i managed to get quite a lot of the people who did like a lot of the effect like a
16:01lot of the
16:01set builders and special effects and model makers and everything and obviously they all know each
16:07other working at ilm and everything and so then watching it there's a good like 20 30 minutes of
16:15the film where it just is completely focused on that and they're all bouncing off for each other
16:21they're all completely separate um interviews they didn't know i interviewed every all of them
16:26but then i mentioned each other's names talking about stuff they did and one of them said um
16:31they just had um they got shouted at by a higher up because they brought in a record player and
16:38a
16:38massive speaker and just playing the um soundtrack to oklahoma really loudly
16:44and just and playing oingo boingo just on repeat and like you're just making everyone just go crazy
16:53just listening to the same two records over and over again yes yeah oh man that's i'm so excited for
16:59these um and again like i said one of the coolest aspects of this documentary is the never before
17:04scenes footage uh yes so can you talk a little bit about that i know we've i've seen the the
17:10footage
17:11with warwick drinking the grape soda a thousand times already is more than just that yeah what i was
17:20quite surprised about when i when i'm looking through some of the a lot of the footage i was sent
17:24i was
17:24given um there's there's a good like five six minutes of that sort of sketch of warwick like
17:34different drinks and like sort of different ways he's like doing the advert for the drink
17:39and and it's just and it's just kind of mesmerizing watching it going like
17:43well were they that bored sitting on their lunch break right just just doing that with this can
17:50well it seems like he's like doing an impromptu commercial for grape juice is what the was what
17:57the video is uh it's pretty funny um yeah have you have you figured out or decided how long this
18:03documentary is going to be um it's going to be about 90 minutes okay good 90 to 100 minutes yeah
18:13so it's good length it's long enough but it doesn't overstay its welcome kind of yeah kind of thing
18:19it gets it's the point across kind of yeah kind of thing because i've seen um i've seen so many
18:26documentaries even what's come out the last like five or so years where they're just so long and it
18:33and it and it doesn't get to the point of what the story is and even it's like the documentaries
18:41are
18:41like very well done and well edited and they've got some amazing interviews but it's just like okay get
18:47to the point that you did this you're just dragging it along along along along and i didn't want this
18:53documentary to just be like um i remember the ewok films are the people are made and we love them
18:59and we've got the small group of fans who love them adore them i didn't want it to just be
19:04that i
19:04wanted it to be a part of that but then also like um the kind of slight negative aspect of
19:13it as well
19:13but they're so forgotten people just genuinely just don't talk about them and about how the films are
19:20actually made as well not just kind of a retrospective like an hour and a half long
19:26retrospective i'll remember these and then he's got like just two people who worked on it talking
19:31about it no i've i've got quite a load like we talked about quite a few good people who made
19:37them
19:37to kind of fill in the gaps and actually tell the actual story of them excellent uh did you have
19:44anything that surprised you that you learned or discovered well while doing your research
19:51um i was surprised the first film won an emmy
19:57i didn't know that yeah i think children emmy i'm guessing i think it it was for like map paintings
20:06like the background paintings and stuff i think it was okay and oh and i found that i was like
20:10oh
20:11really okay i didn't it is a really random pick for to give an emmy out for a film like
20:19a tv film
20:20like that i was quite surprised yeah um so you're you're not you have we weren't around when these
20:26first aired uh obviously um but you now that you you've done the research on them and you i'm assuming
20:34you've watched them several times and whatnot do you consider yourself an expert on these two films
20:42um yes and no it it's kind of um i mean uh long answer short short you know kind of
20:52thing um yes
20:53i would probably say yeah because i because because i've talked to the people watched them a bunch of
20:58times and editing clips out of it watched them behind the scenes but it's like i've got to the
21:03point now where um i can't sit and enjoy watching those ewok films for the moment like if i sit
21:13down
21:13and like watch one of them i'm just like oh i can't stand these ewoks anymore they're just just go
21:23away
21:24because i've been working on the film for so long it's just like it's just let's go away for a
21:30minute
21:30i don't i don't want to see another ewok for a bit but that's not saying i don't love the
21:35films
21:35and love star wars and love ewoks and whatever i love it love all of it to bits but um
21:41but no yes
21:41but you're up uh answer to the question yeah i'm probably more of an expert more of an expert
21:46than most even even i've talked to people i know um who are big star wars fans and i mentioned
21:52about
21:53these two ewok movies and they kind of look at me blankly going what you want about what
21:58what yeah what even movies and this this is and that's kind of the point of why i wanted to
22:03make
22:04documentary like yeah they exist and you know watch them they're pretty good they're not they're not
22:09that bad there you go so so now that we established that you're you could that you're considered
22:15yourself an expert of doing quotations um yeah disney is really big on remakes these days uh do you
22:21think they should remake caravan encourage and battle of endor as a for one officer disney plus with new with
22:27today's technology and using the the volume and everything or are you happy with the way they
22:34are and would it be a success if they did i don't think there'll be a success if they did
22:40it and also
22:44i don't think they should do it because it i don't know i mean it it it'll be i think
22:51if they did do it
22:52i think it would probably fall into the same fate as what the um the willow tv series happened on
23:00disney plus they made it it wasn't amazing but it wasn't awful it was kind of it was all right
23:09and this it just kind of disappeared and you just can't watch it like legally and you can't buy it
23:16anywhere properly and it's just like well we can't really do that that was what even if it wasn't
23:23like the best end product ever it was just like that doesn't matter you can't do that so then i
23:30think if they did something like that with e-box it'll go straight to streaming or straight on disney
23:35plus and have the same kind of fate of like if they they can easily choose to like have it
23:42in a
23:42tax right off and just get rid of it and then you just can't watch them anymore but then
23:48on to your other point of actually remaking them maybe like updating them with whatever
23:56um sky net ai they want to use on it it's i i just i it'll lose the complete charm
24:04yeah on
24:05what they are like you know like if making like ewoks like fully cgi and stuff like that
24:12it it it won't work ewoks are people in suits yeah like costume actors that's stump people in suits
24:23that's what an ewok is but if they make it cgi you know but then if they want to do
24:28like a
24:28uh cartoon or something with that they could easily do that but then disney i don't think they
24:37kind of disney and current lucasfilm don't really know what they're doing with star wars properly
24:43they seem a bit lost with like the angle they want to go towards yeah i feel like they're like
24:50they're fishing almost like they're shooting out lines hoping to catch something that will that will
24:54that will you know work and and reel it in but they're fishing in weird spots sometimes
25:01how about a how about a ewok holiday special there we go
25:08it's the celebration of the life day on on on endor on the forest moon of endor
25:13yeah it can't go as bad as it did last time
25:23do you do you have a finish line in sight
25:27um i don't have like an exact date or anything but i'm hoping to get like and the actual like
25:35finished edit of it sort of done by the end of this year so then hopefully next year i can
25:43sort of throw it out and get it out there somewhere yeah uh and how about speaking about
25:50throwing it out there any distribution type plans or what are your how are you going to get this up
25:55to
25:56the kickstarter fans first and then yes anything else after that what are your are you working on that
26:04yeah so um the first thing is as soon as i'm happy with how the film is and i was
26:11done
26:12the edit stand i've got finished film the first thing is sending out the digital copies to the
26:18backers of the kickstarter and then after that we have to figure out um what to do with it then
26:25how how we're gonna sort of distribute it get it out to the public and monetize it or what what
26:34have
26:34you whatever way we can do it but then hopefully there'll be people who'll be interested in doing that
26:41because i had such a great reception with the actual kickstarter itself so hopefully when it
26:46comes to me actually fishing around for someone to pick it up and put it on a streamer or bvd
26:52or
26:53something they'll kind of be like yeah we can see it's a success and it'll bring people along and
27:01hopefully it'll get done very exciting very i'm really looking forward to seeing stan solo in the
27:07credits as a backer that's what i'm looking forward to seeing um i reached out to some of my ewok
27:13fan
27:13friends and asked if they had any questions are you ready for some of those yeah okay um has anyone
27:21interviewed been able to provide any information about a third ewok adventure movie that had been
27:27greenlight and then cancelled after the budget went sky high in the second one has anyone given you a
27:32story or outline or treatment uh about how far along they were um not necessarily um i know i have
27:44heard
27:44stories and read stuff and people have told me um in interviews and stuff um about that the uh the
27:54uh
27:55kind of mystery of maybe a third ewoks thing um but really no a lot a lot of the people
28:03when i kind
28:04of brought up anything like that they kind of didn't really say anything about it they did they
28:09didn't they either didn't really say much about it or they just said i don't really i don't know
28:14i wasn't involved kind of thing it's it's one of those kind of mysteries of hollywood that
28:22yeah it wasn't it 2027 it'll be the third ewok adventure movie you never know they're gonna
28:28announce it let's start with celebration this may watch yeah yeah um adventure uh one of one of the
28:35questions that springs to mind is has tom gotten in touch with superfan gus lopez i believe gus has
28:42some beyond awesome screen use props and even matte paintings from the ewok adventure caravan of courage
28:47as it is known in australia and new zealand back in may 1985 when it was released theatrically
28:54uh has tom been able to photograph any rare film posters and to show how i got a lot of
28:59questions
28:59here were you able to reach out to gus lopez uh about any of the props he may not have
29:06i i personally i
29:08don't think i have but i have heard the name and i have i have seen um seen some stuff
29:14online about him
29:16but i haven't personally reached out to him because um what i i feel like um with a lot of
29:23that kind of stuff with with like say like fans owning props and stuff and um then taking pictures
29:30and stuff of their props they own it is it's kind of like lovely as i i would love to
29:36see it if
29:37anyone wants to i'd love to see it but to actually sort of put it into the film it it
29:42won't really work
29:43sort of like it themetically and stuff it won't really work if there makes sense yeah it makes
29:50sense because you're you're doing something that happened uh like almost 40 years ago more than 40
29:54years ago and you're going to be showing stuff that this here it is today it doesn't it doesn't
29:59really add up uh would you come across any rare film posters were you able to uh take pictures of
30:04them or anything like that unfortunately not really not really um because um sadly um obviously
30:15well not sadly but they but a lot of the people who are interviewed kind of don't live in the
30:21same
30:21country as i do yeah so i physically couldn't be face to face in person interviewing with them
30:29so it's all being through the power of technology um so it it's so if they did if anyone did
30:38have
30:38anything they've shown me through sort of texts and emails and or video call or what have you but
30:46but i haven't kind of seen anything in person or really got anything myself to be fair yeah uh this
30:53is something we talked about the last time you were on about how george always said that he made this
30:57for his daughter uh amanda lucas uh and we owe a lot of her loving this the specials so much
31:05that
31:05they were being made um were you able to track her down at all uh no i i did actually
31:12i did actually
31:13look to try to maybe do that but it it's just it because i think doing trying to find her
31:23would be
31:2610 times harder than it would be to actually interview lucas himself i think because i think
31:34um i think it would be it would be hard for me to actually speak george lucas but it's in
31:42more of an
31:42easier route to go to sort of contact the right people to then get to him to him to say
31:51no i don't
31:52want to do that but then getting to his daughter is a bit is a extra step yeah kind of
31:59more of a
31:59personal kind of can i speak to i don't want to speak to george lucas i want to speak to
32:04his daughter
32:05it's a bit right it's a bit that doesn't sound creepy at all yeah it's a bit weird yeah
32:13um and then he says uh my other question would be does anyone have access to the copy of the
32:18unaired promo featuring eric walker audrey miller and margenta farrell as clank it was set in the
32:2750s style diner and filmed without george's approval when he saw that abc had filmed uh george candid
32:34because he didn't want his characters to be seen associated with earth that's how i've never ever
32:39even heard of that before are you familiar with that at all no i'm not familiar with that one
32:44actually um but no i that sounds really interesting i i wish i had that footage i don't have that
32:52footage but i do have um there are a good hand like four or five commercials what got shown on
32:59the
32:59televisions at that time of i i do i do have some commercials but not kind of that specific
33:10yeah um okay this is the last one from the from the fan chats questions can tom take all of
33:16us
33:16backers to skywalker ranch when his documentary wins awards and his screen there
33:24yeah uh i don't know you have to see how many how many invites you get yeah um i and
33:32then i don't know
33:33if um uh skywalker ranch or lucasfilm will probably love me completely
33:43with a little bit of the angle of how my documentary is i don't know if that will completely love
33:48me
33:49okay fair enough are they familiar do you think they know or do you know if they know
33:54you're making this documentary someone someone who still works at ilm surely must know
34:02because i've spoken to and interviewed and emailed and text um so many people who had worked
34:13for lucasfilm and ilm and stuff so it's like surely someone who still works there must know
34:23about it surely i don't know i haven't heard anything that anyone who still like did i haven't
34:31heard that mickey mouse knows that i'm doing it but but then it better but it's kind of like um
34:36nothing in this film should infringe with copyright like proper copyright you know it's it's not
34:45you know there are um legally i am allowed to kind of do it i've had that question a couple
34:52times sort
34:53of going uh the mouse will bring the hammer down on you because this is you know their intellectual
34:59property the rip but it's it's like uh yes technically yes but uh the footage i i've been
35:10very careful there's only a couple bits in the film what's actually shows um clips of the actual
35:17footage of the actual film um when it's necessary i need to show it i it's shown but then everything
35:25else is literally everything eric has given me yeah so so so and they and disney lucasfilm they don't
35:32own it own any of that sort of um warwick and eric um filmed and took all the pictures and
35:41filmed
35:41everything by themselves so they technically they sort of eric owns it yeah so and he's given me
35:50the food so it's yeah i think everyone listening to this is is very familiar with the world famous
35:58the solo show logo and just from a personal note uh i did get a notification to not sell merchandise
36:07or t-shirts with my logo on it okay um i was allowed they never said don't use it they
36:13just said
36:14don't be making money off of it it was basically what i yeah what i was instructed uh okay a
36:20few
36:20quick questions uh these are just kind of this is tom grove this is your own personal opinion this
36:25has nothing to do with the ewoks or or or your documentary and that just to kind of get to
36:29know
36:29you a little bit uh some very quick ones what's your favorite star wars film
36:35i would have to say star wars a new home the first one yeah without that none of this would
36:43happen
36:44true enough true enough favorite star wars character
36:49it's a toughie yeah i think a lot of people when when i was younger i i grew up in
36:56the um prequels
36:58era when that like the clone wars and stuff was happening and a lot of people would probably um
37:02dislike me for saying this but i was quite a fan of um jar jar binks when i was younger
37:09so i've got
37:11quite a lot of nostalgia for that character so i'll probably say that okay okay if you're gonna
37:15say that i gotta ask you now what's your worst favorite character your least favorite
37:21i don't know um because 90 of the people will go oh i don't want to say jar jar because
37:26that's too
37:27easy well you gave like the hard one for the what's your what's your least favorite yeah i i would
37:32probably say it i'm gonna give kind of it's a bit of this gonna be a bit of a weird
37:37answer because
37:37i don't hate the character at all i love the character and how they look and but i hate the
37:43way it was handled um captain phasma from the sequel trilogy is where i i kind of dislike or even
37:53like
37:53you know hate how she was portrayed and how kind of she that that character went the story of that
38:01but then i think that would have been a great character but it just kind of went nowhere did
38:08nothing really that's actually a really good answer i like that answer a lot i i agree i think i
38:14can agree
38:14with you on that one um your favorite star wars scene i mean again um oh that's that is a
38:22hard
38:22question um again i'm like i alluded to when i answered about jarja i am a prequels kid um i
38:34would
38:34have to say the mr far flight obi-wan and kidobi you know that that's just like a and the
38:41john
38:42williams score and everything and that it's just genuinely like a top five star wars kind of moment
38:47anyway but i would say because again grounded by nostalgia well at least he didn't say that the
38:54part where anakin was complaining how much he hated sand yeah yeah i hate sand it gets everywhere
39:06but you but you like the part where he goes i hate you
39:11your favorite star wars ship
39:16uh i don't know um
39:21probably basic i'll probably slave one oh yeah okay probably there's quite a you know even though
39:27disney says we can't call that because the mego sets changed the names to boba fett's ship now
39:33yeah yeah yeah it's like okay fine but yeah it's like everybody else yeah um your favorite star wars
39:42sound effect oh that that this relates to um slave one what was it called when he drops the thing
39:53and
39:53it oh yeah yeah the sonic detonators i think yeah yeah yeah and it yeah
40:02yeah that's a good sound that's a good sound yeah that's a good sound effect yeah that's one of my
40:07favorites too that and the tie fighter i like the tie fighter screechy yes that one yes that one too
40:13oh this was a lot of fun i want to thank you so much for coming on uh tom uh
40:17anything you want to
40:18add that we didn't catch on uh i don't think so i think we kind of covered quite a lot
40:23around
40:24yeah uh i'm really looking forward to this movie coming out uh i know a lot of people listening to
40:30this will be as well uh where can they follow you or or or uh if they want to know
40:36more information
40:36about the documentary uh where would they go uh if it's simple literally just go on google or facebook
40:45or instagram or twitter or youtube or whatever sort of anywhere on the internet and just search tom grove
40:53my name and then you'll find you'll you'll see this face and then just click on that and then
41:00and then you'll you'll you'll find various links and you can see everything okay
41:07all righty tom this was a lot of fun i want to thank you so much for your time uh
41:10i know time is
41:11precious commodity to everybody and uh okay and i want to get you back on maybe when this comes out
41:17and i've actually watched it and i give you my face-to-face opinions on it and maybe we'll get
41:22some of the other starter backers on here too because it sounds like you got a little bit of
41:26controversy scenes in there yeah there's a couple bits and pieces throughout the film that kind of
41:33criticizing lucasfilm a little bit okay all right looking forward to it thank you i hate you
41:45all right ken ken take us away to a galaxy far far away
